Replacement Key question

Hi guys
Just bought a replacement key fob for my omega (the buttons are shot away and it only works intermittently).
It needs programming and the Vauxhall garage has quoted me £50. Surely this is something I can do myself? I've got the key code but I'm not really sure what I'd be doing with it.
Is this something I can do myself, and if so, how?
Thanx

Ta, Landy. I've done that a few times but assumed for some reason (perhaps the £50 charge made me think it wasn't straightforward) that a brand new keyfob would need a bit more than just doing the ignition reset thing. Why was the garage banging on about my keycode? I've never had to use that before."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

As far as i am aware all GM vauxhall new remotes must be added Diagnostically and no manual procedure exists. So its either a dealer or Auto locksmith0

The new fob needs programming to the car. The ignition reset is for when the fob goes too far out of sync on the rolling code.
No cheap way I'm afraid.0 -
Thanks for your advice. I couldn't quite believe that the dealership was lying to me but I wanted to be sure. The guy said it needs 'programming via the Vauxhall computers'. I guess he's right. But £50? For what will clearly take seconds. What a rip-off!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
