free photo recovery software?

Can someone please help me out by providing a way to get my photos recovered from my memory card - either free download, free trial or cheap please?

Thanks but when I click on the link it says its free, when I click on download it takes me here (£20) http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download

Not sure I'm clicking on the right bit or if its free or not?

I tried the download but then when I went to run the programme it said in the terms, you cannot re-sell, so I cancelled as I wasnt sure about whether that meant I had to pay.......but unsure about these things...HELP!

Found recuva, downloaded, used and most files didnt come up - it found them which the computer wasnt before but they wouldnt show (damaged or corrupted) Does this mean I have no choice but to format the XD card and lose my photos?

The original page I linked to states "And it's free!". I think you just need to download from here:

You just want to use it not re-sell it, so I don't see that there's a problem.

Yep, it was going to charge me later in the process but I got the Recuva free from PC Mag website.

They are just icons and cant view them though, I had some really good ones so Im pretty diapointed Dont know if there is anything to 'fix' them - any new photos I have taken wont be seen either, so does that mean I need to format my memory card?

Reformatting the card might work, but given that it's already failed once I guess there's the possibility that it may do so again in future. If it were me I think I'd probably get a new card.

Either way, I'd suggest not reformatting just yet, somebody may be along with another solution.
