in Water bills
Hi
I must have most expensive domestic water per cubic metre in UK. £6.84 per cubic metre. Can anyone , on a water meter, beat the per cu metre charge
I have had my meter installed since November 2005. I am with 3 valleys and Thames Water for sewerage.
I checked my water meter again today. 12 M3 used in 12 months. (yes I know, I am careful with water) charged £1.28 Pcumetre for combined Thames Water and 3 Valleys
£1.28 * 12 = £15.36
plus £66.80 standing charge (combined both suppliers) P.a.
EQUALS £82.16 / 12m3 used = £6.84 pcubicmetre. . Absolute Robbery.
Without a water meter my bill was twice as high.
I have asked 3 valleys if they have discount scheme for low users (like Anglian) but they say no.

I think some utility companies have a minimum charge for water and the same for sewerage + standing charges.
To be fair to the companies, they are charged with the responsiblity for the area's whole infrastructure for water and sewerage, drainage from roads, reservoirs, etc etc0 -
Hi Alan....The current Solow rate, no standing charge ,with Anglian Water is 138.46pence per cubic metre and sewage (at 90% of water used) is 210.28pence. A bargain.
Hope this minimum charge doesn't catch on.0
