Good luck with your decision, I am excited for you.
I am soo excited... me and my dd (4 1/2) are going to look at the boys on thursday evening.
I keep looking at one of their photos on internet and imagining him asleep flopped on the sofa

If you are considering getting both, you need to consider how they get on with eachother - they didn't come from the same family, did they? Have they been introduced? As someone else said, if you are getting 2 older cats a boy and a girl will probably make friends easier than 2 boys.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Before you get whoever you end up getting, and I can't stress this enough, BLOCK UP ALL THE HIDEY HOLES HOWEVER SMALL!!!
Tripod went up the chimney breast via a stonebuilt VCR/TV bench hole and didn't come down for a week, then went under the kitchen cupboards before deciding on the slightly less harmful approach of sulking under the bed.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Hehehe I went to cats protection to get two adult cats and ended up with 3 kittens :rotfl:
To be honest 2 cats isn't alot more effort than one as you feed them the same, clean litter trays at same time etc. I say if you have room in your house and your heart for two then go for it! Our three although from the same litter all have different personalities. Although I agree from earlier posters that you do need to see if you are thinking of getting more than one that they will get along. Cats protection will normally put the two cats together to see if they get along before you take them home so maybe the 'cat lady' would do the same??
Good luck

Hi
Don't worry too much about extra bowls, you can often get cheap saucers from chaity shops.
Things you may need
1) An extra large bed (whats yours is ours and whats ours is ours as well is most cats philosophy)
2) Cat carrier (for those visits to you know who)
3) A camera for those "aaah" moments
Also be prepared for your cat mad friends to visit and spend most of their time talking to the cat!Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -

Patience of a saint.
Ability to sleep through 3am litter spraying sessions.
Hair-repellant clothing.
Cast iron furniture.
Vacuum cleaner 10 times more expensive than you've ever thought possible.
Endless spare hours with which to pick fur off clothes, furniture, behind kitchen appliances and behind radiators.
A complete loss of sense of smell.
Iron clad legs and shoulders. (For needle tipped cuddles)
A laser pointer.
Acceptance that you are no longer the boss of your own home and there is at least one Supreme Leader.
Go for it!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Oh yeah the litter spraying... mine seems to be either trying to tunnel out of the house a la Shawshank Redemption - or head to Australia.
The dog has obviously lived with cats previously as well - he tries to bury his poo in the same way a cat would but it's somewhat less dignified when you're three times the size with gangly legs windmilling everywhere (and flipping hilarious to watch).
If you get a snorer like I have... earplugs!
Oh and don't ever ever ever ever ever buy one-solid colour carpets if you have a cat (mine obligingly sheds the black parts of her fur on the cream carpets adn saves her white bits for the dark coloured bedding - so kind she is) - they show the hair like nothing else... carpets with a fleck in require much less hoovering

we have mainly wooden floor (except bedroom) and the twins love sweeping so we should be ok for rounding up the fur....
My dd has already found a radiator cat bed thing and is insistant !!!!!cat needs it
We have 3 sofas - puss will be able to chose his own
