Any way to check dongle coverage before you buy ?

I've currently got a T-Mobile dongle but only get one bar speed at home (out in the sticks). I'd like to get a dongle with another company but need to check beforehand that they can provide better/quicker coverage at home - is there any way of doing that ?

There are various websites you can use to check the general coverage, such as http://www.compare3gmobilebroadband.co.uk/3g-coverage-uk.htm, but so much depends on your immediate surroundings so that is only an indication. The best way is to find somebody else on another network in your area if you can.
Before you do that though, have you tried different areas in your house or just moving the dongle around a bit? I improved a friend's reception by just putting the dongle on a short USB cable so that it could be on the windowsill.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. The best way to check coverage is to get yourself some free SIM's on other networks. e.g. here or here with cashback
You don't need to buy another dongle, simply unlock the one that you have see here or Google for info and then simply use the other networks SIM's in your dongle. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
