Credit check for Sim-only deal?

Just wondering whether a credit check is required for T-moble sim-only deals?
I'm not talking about payg, but the rolling sim-only deals and/or the 12 months sim-only deals.
The reason I ask is that T-Mobile use Equifax and they don't have me listed as being on the electoral register (unlike Experian). As a result i was refused a regular contract with them.
