Playing iPlayer through my TV

I have a modern Sony Plasma TV and would like to be able to play the BBC IPlayer through my TV. I am not a very techie person so have no idea whether this is possible, or whether there is anything I can buy to connect my laptop to my TV that would make this possible? Thanks in advance for your help...

I just plugged the ethernet cable from the internet box from in, then clicked on the 'internet' button on the remote. The i-player is one of the options, you can also watch 5od and a few other things through the tv with no need to plug a laptop into it
