Playing iPlayer through my TV

I have a modern Sony Plasma TV and would like to be able to play the BBC IPlayer through my TV.

I am not a very techie person so have no idea whether this is possible, or whether there is anything I can buy to connect my laptop to my TV that would make this possible?

    it very much depends on your laptop and its connections.
    also as to whether it can output from those connections
    easiest way is a PS3 TBH ;)

    all depends on your laptop, some laptops will have a HDMI socket so you would just have to hook it up with a HDMI cable, others will have a VGA socket which will transmit the video but not the sound - so you would have to sort out another connection for the sound, so if you can give us some more details about the actualy equipment you are using we might be able to help a bit better

    PS3 and the Wii both work perfectly - if you have either. I've never had great success with streaming from my laptop.

    or if you are with Virgin Media you can get iPlayer through their box.

    Maplin sell an adaptor for £30 or so that will take VGA from laptop and generate AV signal for the TV. You need an audio cable as well.

    Recent Sony blu-ray players
    Sony internet TV set-top box
    FetchTV set-top box
    PS3
    BT Vision box
    Vigin Media box

    Also, if you have a Freesat HD set top box, most of these now support the BBC iPlayer
    Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!

    also some newer sony tvs have iplayer built in. ive personally just got a new blu ray player with it and it is fantastic

    You can also access iPlayer via Wii.

    I am told my Humax will receive an update this year to enable iPlayer access and hoping this will happen soon:T
