Care Home Fees - Who Pays?

I have found out that my mum 'could' be send to a rehab unit directly from the hospital once she is given the go ahead to start mobilising again on the injured leg.
Unfortunately she cannot start mobilising again for at least another 4 weeks.
If she were to go home or to a residential home for the next 4 weeks - both of which cannot happen anyway due to her high risk of further falls - but if she were - then she would also miss out on the opportunity to go to the rehab unit as this referral can only be straight from hospital.
So patients like my mum will only get intensive physio and rehab. IF they go straight from hospital. Once out in the community they miss out on this vital help in getting them independent again.
I have now had a letter back from the hospital in response to my written complaint. They are refusing to deal with it until my mum signs a disclaimer allowing them to release details of her treatment etc to me.
I have not asked for this information nor do i want it. The complaint is from ME not my mum and it is about what I have observed and about the behaviour of certain individuals at the joint agency meeting to which I was asked to attend.
I have also mentioned in my complaint that my mum was almost given some else's medication - and since writing my complaint - this has now happened again.
Fortunately - again - my mum stopped the ninjection from being given.
If the hospital refuse to deal with my complaint where do I go from here?0 -

I think you would be better off starting a new thread about this rather than tack it on to the bottom of an old one you would get more response. Who pays for care is a huge topic not just with older people but those needing hospice services as well. I hate this whole system of budgets for this and budgets for that the prime concern should be the patient and any necessary funding should follow them.0 -

Here here (or is it hear , hear) whichever - I totally agree - having worked in health for 15 years and Local government for 4, I am horrified at how the emphasis is now on passing the buck rather than making sure the individual gets what is best for them - mind you - this is what happens when the different areas are dealt with by totally different departments in Whtehall and Cardiff!!:oIf you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!
