NR Isa - think I'm being fobbed off

I applied online for a NR fixed 3.05% 1 year isa near the end of Nov 2010. Early Dec the cheque was presented and I received a request for ID, duly returned. Mid December received a letter returning the ID, saying copies had been taken and passed to the relevant dept. All fine. I didn't receive anything else so phoned after Xmas. The person I spoke to was a little waffley. but basically said the only paper-work I would receive (confirming £, % & term) would be a quarterly statement due roughly Feb 2011. Maybe this is normal with NR ?? but every other Isa I've ever opened, I've received an opening statement or certificate or something spelling out the transaction.

So question is, is this standard practice with NR Isa's or should I be chasing a confirmation ?

I would definitely chase confirmation of the ISA you opened, I opened a FR ISA last year in March with Northern Rock and they sent me a confirmation letter with the amount that I had deposited and the date of the deposit

Otherwise there is the possibility that they could try to cheat you out of some interest so it's definitely worth following up!
  • I got a confirmation when I transferred an ISA to NR in July, they were actually remarkably efficient. Since then I've had one quarterly statement. I'd definitely chase up an opening document.
