Can I return Christmas earrings to jewellers?

I like them, but I can't get them on. They just won't go through the holes in my ears! I've got a few similar pairs, and I've never had this trouble before, but these earrings have a tiny bobble on the end of the bit that goes through the ear (as part of the design) and this seems to be the cause of my trouble.
I want to return them but hubby says they were quite clear that this would not be possible.
What can I do?

I don't know of any jewellers who will allow the return of earrings for pierced ears.
I'm afraid hubby is probably right, I know last time I bought some earrings the staff made a point of stating that I couldn't return earrings. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I understand that's the usual policy, but what I'm wondering is... if they're meant to be pierced earrings, but they won't go through a pierced ear, does that mean that they're not fit for purpose? and, therefore, could I get a refund because of it?
Or even an exchange? We were burgled recently and I don't have any jewellery now, so I'd be happy with anything (except a pair of earrings I can't wear!)0 -

I am guessing that they will go through most ears, otherwise they would have been recalled/ removed from sale?Gone ... or have I?0 -
and nice idea, themull1, but they're a bit expensive to save for someone else. The only person I'd spend that much on would be my Mum, and unfortunately they're not her style0

If you are concerned that they maybe faulty I would definately take them back and see what they say. Nothing ventured and all that...0

I would see what they say - if there is a problem with them, they will have had more returns. Do any online retailers sell them, so we can have a look?

It's quite a clear picture, so I think you should be able to see what I mean.
Their website says they're 'always happy to help'. We'll see!0 -
