Why Finance unless you deal with money being paid out, surely if you are a PA in finance they cannot make you lose your job .. or can they?

  • I don't work in finance but I do work directly and have access to the payment system everyday. I'm a benefit delivery officer for JSA. I'm also concern about telling my manager or the pcs rep as I know them both personally... I'm in a bit of a quandary? It's a very confusing and stressful time. I went to cab yesterday and they have informed me that I may need to pay a fee of about £1000 to go bankrupt, is this always the case or does it depend on circumstances, and that I might lose my house even if it is in negative equity and that my car is also at risk... I'm not sure what to do for the best, so I might lose my house, my car and my job, what a fool I am for getting into such a mess with money!!!!!! Can someone give me some useful advise/help on my situation. PLEASE.confused-smiley-013.gif

Hmm lets start with one at a time....is there any way you can contact your HR dept with a question about bankruptcy affecting your post? it can be done anonmously...your manager's dont need to be told if your contract of employment says you would be ok to continue....BR fees per person are £345 OR fee & £125 court fees (court fee can be exempt depending on your circumstances)....houses & cars are a pretty difficult area depends how much your car is currently worth & if you could put a good case together as to why you need to keep it..can't really comment about the house i've never owned one

I know you've mentioned the CAB but have you tried speaking to cccs or one of the other free debt helplines? bankruptcy is a very difficult decision to make without knowing your personal circumstances how much debt you owe what your salary is & how much you pay out each month

everyone here will support you anyway we can

Looked in dept and you today...very vague (if you haven't found it before its just one line under standards of behaviour) She also did processing like you. I think it giro writer and stockholders...eg in a postition where they have access to blank cheques..that may require change of duty.

Understand its difficult to speak to union rep/LM. What about PCS head office?
Personally I would look further into bankruptcy and speak to debtline/CCC . If you still want to go bankrupt then talk to LM. Yes its embarassing to admit probs with money but overall I expect they would be understanding.

    Hi stopmydebt

If you are in a union try & call them (you don`t have to give your name) they tend to know the answers re outcomes. Also if you are not in the union it may be a good time to join one...just in case of need. You can usually put professional fees on I&E anyway.

Call & speak to CCCS and/or Nat debtline to clarify the way forward.

    Cheers , Angelx

Just to echo Angel's message, contact the union asap, even if you're not already a member. They're often the best organisations to help in any situation in which you feel your job security might be compromised. They also have access to good - and specialised - legal advice.
    Good luck.

  • I have read the same on "you and the dept", it's rubbish.. I am a member of the union but the union rep in our office is on holiday at the moment and a close colleague is acting up for my manager.... I did phone the pcs head office but the man on the phone said it was a specialised area and my own office rep would know more about it than him (great)! Just phoned the National Debt help line and they have been fantastic, giving advice on court fee and waivers they are sending all information we have spoke about through the post, thanks for that tip to contact them, unfortunately they didn't know enough about my job and advised me to contact the unions as everyone else has done......

I went to cab yesterday and they have informed me that I may need to pay a fee of about £1000 to go bankrupt, is this always the case or does it depend on circumstances, It's £345 + £125 max, per person so if you're going BR as a couple it's £940

and that I might lose my house even if it is in negative equity Highly unlikely, the OR wont be interested in your house if there's no equity, you'll be given the opportunity to buy the beneficial interest from the OR for £1 + £211 costs, this will safeguard you against losing your house

and that my car is also at risk... If you need your car to get to work and there is no reasonable alternative you should be able to keep it. It's usually people who aren't working who lose their cars.

The CAB have really painted you a bleak picture, did they not explain that this was worst case, and not most likely scenario?
