I am currently leaning toward UltraLase because they offer a free lifetime aftercare service compared to Optical Express and Optimax who only cover you for 2 years; fine if your eyes don't need any further work in later years but it could be expensive if you do.

For my prescription OE want £3500, UltraLase have a flat rate so it will be £4000 unless for some reason I need the next level up which is £5000.

Does anyone have experience with UltraLase in Exeter? They are fully booked for over a month for consultations! Not a great start and I'm wondering if they are understaffed.

Or they could just be a great company with customers lining up for their services! :rotfl:

I am slightly short-sighted - i don't wear glasses but i know i probably should. However i just wanted to enquire if anyone can recommend a laser-eye surgery clinic in Belfast or beyond that you have used.
My eyesight isn't really that bad but i can't face going down the road of glasses/contacts etc

    Hi chickadee

I had mine done a few months ago at optimax on the lisburn road the staff and the aftercare where brilliant. Had a friend go to optical express in donegal place and she sayed they where brilliant.
My advice is to have a free consultation with at least 2 clinics as they can vary in price

    good luck

I've merged the threads to keep all the information together :)
  • I had plus glasses befor the Lasik. The hyperop can expect overcorrection.

He might eaven be unhappy for the first one or two years. In my case there was a small astigmatism left. Though I had not gone for my early correction yet. I decided to wait for a longer period. I was explained there can still be a slight shift towards later Regression after 3- 4 years. My left EYE has: - 0.5 sph. -0.5 Ax 70° and sees reasonably good in daily life. So I decidet to wait before reopening the flap.
If I choose my Lasik Clinic today: I would look for the I-Lasik encluded. To me traveling 300 to 400 km would be fine. A good Option that I saw is Wordleye Klinik at Frankfurt – Schaumainkai, Germany. The Price is reasonable. :T Sorry. I can not coment on the English Laser Surgeons.

    Merit A.

I had mine done in Optilase beside the city hall in October and I can't recommend them highly enough!

Totally professional service, the nurse even held my hand when I was terrified in theatre. I had a check-up the following day, week, month, 3 months, 6 months and another in October this year. They have me a lifetime guarantee and when I had (what turned out to be unrelated) issues I got an appointment to go in and see them the next day.

Price-wise it was far better than I could have expected, around a third of the price of other places as I'd taken a special offer of 20% off if I booked a certain day.
