Don't you think I would know if I had received my benefit on Friday and forgotten that I had ? I dont want to sound ungrateful but ,replies like that are of no use to anyone.

If i'd had a £1 for everytime i heard this i would'nt need to still be working!!
Payments should have been done early but you could actually contact the oohs service via your local police station in the case of an emergency............i would however suggest you calm down and change your attitude or you may find them not very helpful !

Well what do you want us to say ? The Benefit Delivery Centres/Job Centres are closed in Scotland until tmorro morning, as you well know. If you're skint, contact the local social work department and see if they can (a) contact the DWP out of hours officer (if that service is even provided in your area) or (b) sub you food & electric until tmorro. If they can't do either you'll just have to suck it up & wait to see what the "morons" say tmorro.
I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.

I think you'll find that the Social Fund crisis loan system will be getting hammered all this week by people who "didn't know they got their benefit early" and who "just spent it" even though they "didn't know where the money came from".

No doubt the excuses are getting dreamt up right now, in preparation for the crisis loan application lines opening tomorrow morning.

That takes me back. Reminds me of the time when I worked at a Jobcentre in London, and after Christmas we'd get a few idiots in complaining about not getting their giros. When we reminded them they had been sent out early, they usually said they thought it was a Christmas Bonus :rotfl:

    Jeesus !!!!
Is there anyone out there with an IQ higher than their waist size ?
OK , I understand I have !!!!ed everyone off with my comments, but please, use a bit of logic before commenting.

    My brain hurts...

Charlie - comments such as this ^^^^ wont do you any favours on this site.

You have come on here asking people to offer you advice....do you seriously think that we are going to give you this advice when you behave like a spoilt brat when the advice you get isnt what you want to hear ?

You are acting like a child who has had their sweets taken from them!

Ok , before you go off on one , let me just say that i am not being un-sympathetic to your plight . If you really are sitting without any money then i do feel for you but thats still no reason to behave in the way you have been !

As one of the posters asked before...isnt there any way either yourself or your partner could get a job?
The loopy one has gone :j
  • When i read ur comments, i could have dropped through the floor...how rude! But never the less, i understand how you feel...benefits should be paid on time and its a bit of a !!!!!! when they arent, i know, its happened to me and my partner before so i do sympathise with you, especially with you having no (or very little) elec/gas on! Payments have been all over cos of Christmas so chances are that yours is just late or it has been known for them to send a giro at times like this even if u usually have it paid into the bank. But PLEASE understand that the people on this site are here to help you, not be abused by you. There really is no need to kick off like a stroppy
!!!!ing teenager. My 4 year old doesnt kick off like that! People will help you if you keep your cool and be right with them....anyway, good luck with the Jobcentre and getting it sorted... oh and by the way, the people at the JC arent 'morons'. They work bloody hard and if wasnt for them, nobody would get paid....they do make mistakes from time to time but who doesnt? The world would be a s!!t place if everyone was 100% perfect!

Hi everyone, this is my first posting, and I probably wont be able to respond to any replies as my lights are just about to go out !
Today my jsa normally goes into my PO card account. But not today..zilch,not a bean. The offices in Scotland are closed until Wednesday so there is no way I can get in touch with them until then.
This happened once before a month back, when my benefit did not go into my acc. until the next day. When I asked them what the problem was they had no idea! I have some candles for the black out to come but any food I have is in tins,so its cold beans and water for me.
Also I borrowed money on the belief that my money would be there on Monday..
    These are the bad times....
    Charlie

Possibly a dumb question.....who knows.....but if your electricity was about to go out - do you think it was wise to use the last of it posting a thread asking for help, when you quite clearly knew you wouldn't be able to log back on and check for responses and suggestions for assistance? Or.....are you using a high tarrif dongle and battery power on a laptop? Maybe there's some cost cutting measures there for you over on the old fashioned board.

Mmm yes - but I didn't think this particular card worked in ATMs. Only at the counter. Certainly used to be the case.

    Mine too......
  • The Post Office Card Account card does work in Bank of Ireland ATMs that are provided at some Post Offices.

I suspect the OP was more of a rant than a genuine question.

Ever had the feeling that your attitude may be one of the reasons you haven't got a job?

Obviously, I'm unaware of your personal circumstances but would strongly suggest you wind your neck in and actually listen to some of the excellent advice that some on here can and do offer. The number of people I have seen on these boards who have 'profitted' from listening to sound advice is amazing ( including claiming for benefits they did not know they were entitled to).....but think you may have burnt your bridges already,,,,Well done!!

  • Great news ! I found a £10 note in the house, bought some dinner and put the change on a 49's bet in Ladbrokes .Guess what ..5 numbers came up ! I just collected £4,950 in crisp £50 notes ! The benefit that is due to me,£200 odd. Will be gratefully donated to the Palestinian relief fund. The winnings will be the first step in re-starting my former business,so I can earn honest money once more and not have to be treated like a parasite !
    Happy New Year !!
