Brighthouse late payment fees

                    On Saturday, 1/1/11 the local Brighthouse store was closed. This is understandable. The problem I had is that I usually make my payments on a Saturday, over the phone and therefore very rarely visit the store. I no longer wish to be 'helped' by the staff who are only interested in getting you to sign a new agreement, I am trying to clear the accounts I have so that I can sack them!
Because of the store being closed on my usual payment day and the fact that I was not notified of their opening hours, are they still entitled to charge me a late payment fee? I objected to this when I made my payment but to no effect. Why should I be penalised for the fact that I couldn't make a payment when it was technically them who prevented me from doing so?

            could you not have made the payment the day before? I cant see how they stopped you from making the payment.0

            You cant blame them for not informing you of their opening hours.
 Surely you should have realised that very few shops would be open on New Years Day.
 No one to blame but yourself I'm afraid. Set up a standing order for the payment to avoid it happening again.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

 hi hun ive been laid up with flu over crimbo, and lost my mobile over crimbo voda sent a new one out thur 30/12/2010 im 3 weeks behind only just and my payment date is saturdays, i rang them up today and said i will be bringing my account up to date on saturday 8th jan and i will submit a letter in writing to clear the oustanding balance as ive got 11 wks left on the agreement omg i was hurled with abuse
 ( BRIGHT HOUSE SAID TO ME)
 -" WHAT IS TELEPHONE NUMBER??
 - YOU BETTER GET UP HERE TO THE STORE AND PAY £62!

 and the website clearlly states they will go out of there way to help there customers, its not the first time either if i dont pay bang on 9am on a saturday they are ringing me at 10.30 demanding payment! also when my account has been up to date they have rang me mid week and asked me for my payment as its late and that my payment date is a thursday to which i reply "" but its a saturday & it also states this on my agreement"" and the brighthouse salesman clearlly said to me "" NO! IT SAYS NO SUCH THING YOU ARE LYING!
 also if they have rang me a couple of times in one day i will ring them back and ask why they have rang and the answer i go was "" NO YOU RANG ME"" WE HAVE NOT CALLED YOU TODAY THINK YOUR DREAMING OR DELUSIONAL
 for god sake this is no way to speak to customer! clearlly they are muppets but im refusing to pay until 8th jan on the fact he refused my payment wouldnt speak to me about my account when i was on the phone as he didnt want to! plus trading standards have been contacted bright house head office, the ombudsman office of fair trading and the fsa and if they still victimise me i will be seeking advice from a solicitor for victimiastion slander & harrasment & and with only 11 weeks left they will get told to stick the payments and step on my property without prior arrangment with myself and he will be takenaway by the police for trespass
 if you google brighthouse problems there is no end of people saying how they have been bullied by brighthouse and they have gone to ppls home and tried to knock the door down for a weeks payment i mean come on ppl would think you owe thousands not a few quid0

            they wont accept a standing order on direct debit on a monthly basis and to that you would need a whole new agreement setting up! brighthouse or scumhouse or idiots0

            Because Cheque, SO and DD are balanced in the customers favour and they know fine the clientale they are dealing with can be deceitful and scam them thus they demand payment methods that can't be cancelled or withdrawn.
 I can't say I blame them; The fact is people have obligations and should meet them and organise how they plan to do this; Xmas and holidays dont give you a justifiable reason to fall weeks behind.0

            If you usually pay by phone, why has the shop being shut have any bearing on your ability to pay the company?

 BTW, of course they will be heavy on the credit control, they're dealing with the people least likely to keep to a credit agreement (as is proved by being 3 weeks late already), so much so they can't get credit elsewhere or they wouldn't be dealing with Brighthouse in the first place.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll 0 0

 Ouch that made my head hurt, but I really don't think that anyone stepping foot on your property to gain back their items would be of any interest to the police as surely it would be a civil case ?
 I still don't really understand the main problem though, you owe them several weeks money and they want it. They might well be rude but that is often the way with creditors when payments are behind.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
 So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.
