young person refused credit card

Why is she not on the electoral roll where she's living? It may help. Did she have a student account at university? Is she applying for a credit card with her current bank?
I got my first CC at 20 through the bank I had a student account with. I doubt anyone else would've given me one as I had no credit history.0 -
My first CC was with my own bank aswell, so always try there first.
But if she is giving a different address to the electoral role this will almost certainly lead to rejection.
As a bit of side information, when i said get a phone contract it may actually save money anyway, if she is happy with her current phone etc she can get a sim only contract from £10 a month (get the best fit for her usage of course)Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Hi. The advice above is very good. I could not get a NEXT DIRECTORY account and was dissapointed. I applied to the TSB BANK whom I banked with for a TRUSTCARD and they gave me one, then I was able to get credit from more or less any lender.
Hope that helps and good luck.0 -
I had the same problem - having never been in debt, I was considered "risky". This was despite having an overdraft (which I didn't use), and a regular DD mobile phone.
I applied for a Capital One card - the rate is SHOCKING, but as a result they tend to be less picky. Your daughter can then use it to start building a credit rating - just make sure she pays it off in full every month (and make sure she uses it as otherwise you get charged - and then get charged interest on that card).
Also, before applying again wait until she has been in her property a while. Moving unfortunately affects your rating as (apparently) a new address could indicate a fraudulent application. And she'll need to be registered to vote at her new address, not the old one.
Hope this helps xThank you to all the compers!0 -
Try Barclaycard Initial. It's targeted to people who have no/limited credit history.0

definately stop appying the more you apply (even with a 2- month gap) the worse it adds to your credit history, i was told this before when i applied for one in 6 months since i had one last.Competition Wins 2017: Humans Boxset : £25 Cheque, Lego Batman Goodies0

Some banks do offer credit cards to people who are 20. Be with an employer for 6 months is good enough already.0
