Pipex Missed Payment from hundreds of Pipex users

Pipex called to say due to a fault on their system they have not collected payment from hundreds of Pipex users and are now calling to ask for payment.
Just in case some of you Pipex users wondered why they have called.

Just before I left in July Pipex emailed 1000's of users saying their monthly sub was overdue and they'd be cut off if it wasn't paid within 7 days - despite having collected it by DD beforehand. Their switchboard went into meltdown.
When I left I owed 10 days subs having canx my next DD so I wouldn't be chasing them for a refund. I wrote and asked them to tell me exactly how much I owed and I'd send them a cheque. A month later a collection agency called saying I owed the full month so I told them I didn't and would pay what I owed but not any more. Another month later Pipex acc's emailed and asked for 20 days subs which I also declined, then 2 weeks after they came up with the correct amount which I duly paid.
So the news comes as no great surprise. The words "p1ss-up" and "brewery" spring to my about their accounts dept, there again the words "chocolate" and "fireguard" do about their CS. What a shame to see a once first class ISP in such a shambles.0 -
I've been a member since April and not paid a penny they had my account details, and last month they sent me a letter saying DD has been set up, they still havent taken payment so if/when they chase me to collect payment I will tell them I am not at fault they are and will refuse to pay it off in one lump sum if at all.0

I joined Pipex in August and the first payment is due next week. I admit it was more than I'd expected, but after a phone call it appears their payment system is similar to Telewest whereby, you pay approx 2 weeks in advance. I'm not complaing as I find the service very good.0
