When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D

Good morning  I'm presuming that most ppl are making the most of the last day of freedom??? :( so sad I have to return to work tomorrow....

Anyway :j I still have today ;) plan to be very busy today to distract me from any temptation to smoke :)

  • [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
  • faff around on my spreadsheet :p
  • clean my car thoroughly (did offer ds to do it fr a fiver but he hasn't made any efforts to so he has now lost the opportunity, do want want to drive to work with it smelling of fags )
  • make hummous
  • [STRIKE]make tom soup to use up carrots & peppers[/STRIKE]
  • slice & freeze mushrooms
  • go to the gym (& maybe a swim?)
  • go for a walk later
  • pop into office near here and prnt off some crosswords (just to stop the boredom that comes in late evening atm)
  • tidy kitchen
  • NOT SMOKE :money::dance:
  • check for surveys
I think that's enough to keep me out of trouble for a whie ;) have a great BH everyone x

Good Morning, I was up with the lark this morning! I have or will

    - Checked online banking - No change
    - Yesterday I bought Chirstmas cards for next year and wrapping paper £1.24 spent.
    - Cleaned the house
    - Listed a couple of bits on ebay and Amazon
    - I think I have sorted our summer holiday, I am just waiting to confirm the dates of my leave and, seeing if the accomdation is available, I am hoping to use airmiles for the flights, which will make it a cheap holiday. £470 for 2 all being well.
    - Washing overnight on Eco 7 hung up in side today
    - OH is due back tonight, he should be off now until end of Jan, so I will write a list of all the jobs to be done.
  • watching the footy on sky at 1215 rather than going to the game or to the pub equally (save at least £25 there)

a miserable afternoon after a thumping, all i'm saying is up the blue and whites !!
  • where are you planning to go Lotte? we got our holiday accom from https://www.holiday-rentals.com and our fight independently and the total costs is £460 for 10 days. I will let ppl know whether I recommend when we come back!

Good morning. Can't believe it's the end of the holidays already- where has it gone? so anyhoo my DFW things to do today are:

    - Check online banking
    - Dry washing on airers
    - List contents of freezer, store cupboard and create a meal plan.
    - Take sister shopping and take a list of the things I need to buy for my meal plan.
    - Sort out the 100's of items I have lying around and get ready to list on ebay once my uni assignment has been finished- to be submitted Thursday, eeek
    - Go for a free dinner at the inlaws.

Thats all I can think of right now, though I'm sure the more I get into DFW the more I'll have to list.

    Have a wonderful BH all

  • Good morning DFW-land and thanks to DNMS for starting the thread.

Last day off for me and so much that I want/ought to do, but I really can't be bothered. :o We've had a light dusting of snow so that may help me decide what to do with my day.

    So far I have:
    • checked banking - still in black until rent cheque clears!
    • checked for surveys - screened out
    • messed around on laptop for two hours
    • fed and watered chickens
    I should also:
    • phone Briti$h Ga$ if they're open today and change the DD amount
    • look at my January goals and my 101 things lists to see what I ought to try to achieve
    • make a new hat as I lost my favourite one many years ago
    • clean out chickens
    • possibly deliver last Xmas presents
    • make bread
    • all meals from stores
    • have an NSD
To be honest, I just want to sit curled up with a hot chocolate and make hundreds of lists cos that's what I do best :rotfl:

Have a good Bank Holiday folks, stitchy x

Hi I wanted to go to Tuscany, but all of the airmiles flights have gone, but there is still some to Bolgana and some nice places to stay and we would hire a car anyway. Thanks for the suggestion, I will have a look.
