M&S Further reductions

  • Manager's reductions today, and was in store at 9am so got some real bargains. It was chaos as nothing has the proper price on, but most things were reduced to £1, £2 or £3 at the till. I went a bit mad - but had a plan, so I'm happy! Original price of clothes and jewellery £1495. Spent £153. I have only kept four items for myself at £3 each, all reduced from £40. I was in and out all day (I live just round the corner - very handy!). When I saw how cheap everything was, I decided to buy anything decent that I could make a profit on (per una, autograph etc.) whatever the size. Too much hassle to list on eBay, so will sell at car boot and should make a good profit without having to ask too much (and I've got some Debenhams and Currys freebies too) :).

I kept getting the sarcastic SA - comments about the number of times she'd served me, the amount and varied sizes I was buying, and would they fit me? In the end I told her she was being judgemental and I could buy what I liked, for whatever purpose. She apologized. She clearly did not like it that people were loading up trolleys with everything and anything - and I wasn't alone in buying so much. I think she was jealous - the staff were only told about the reductions as they left work yesterday, so couldn't get anything for themselves.

I might pop in tomorrow, but from what I overheard, the stock room was cleared out - as was the store by 4pm – not much left at all!

    hi Rainey ,

may i ask which store this is?
  • Well I could say, but I prefer not to as it's a small town. I'm funny about giving personal stuff out - sorry, but that's just me! ;)

Managers reductions were on today, but only on kidswear and menswear. still waiting for womenswear and homewear, should be tommorrow. they decided to take one floor at a time as there would be too much chaos on the tills.

Thanks for that, Lola! After reading your post DD and I went in to our local M&S and came away with some lovely stuff and both of us spent less than £50.

Hello M&S'ers. I thought I'd pop on here and ask my question as you obviously all shop in M&S.

I bought some Christmas decorations on 3 for 2 which arrived about 2 days before Christmas. I have decided to keep a few bits but I don't like some of the items they sent. If I return 1 item from a 3 for 2 promotion, will I in effect just be returning my free item, or will they divide the price I paid for all 3? I hope that makes sense. The items are not faulty (don't know if that makes a difference), I just didn't like some of the items. I bought the items online.

    Thanks for your help.
  • There was managers reductions in falkirk today, got £580 worth for £29 there was lots of things.xx
  • Lemony, you'd be returning the free item, so I'd just give it to a friend, or donate it to charity.

I'm glad it helped you, I was at our store at 8.30, for it opening but alas it wasn't on:o, my Mam had overheard a manager saying he had the email and SA saying that they wouldn't be ready for the morning to which the manager had replied the other stores would be, hence I was there, was going to go this morning but our roads are like glass thanks to sleet and ver y cold conditions last night, might brave it later but they will still be accepting returns from Christmas so things will be going out all the time:p
