I had a really horrible time at my local M&S store today, the ladies on the Per Una counter were so rude.

Went to pay for about 7 items and 2 of them scanned at higher prices than they were tagged at. Initially they refused to reduce them to what they were tagged at...then when I insisted that I was only willing to pay the price on them they accused me of moving tags onto them myself!!!

I did speak to manager afterwards, and she apologised, but it wasn't great. :(

Has anyone been to camberley today? I was thinking of making a trip up there tonight as our local m and s will alreayd be shut when I finish work, but wondered if anyone knows if the "final" reductions are any good up there.
  • debsjc - What an awful experience. I have always found M&S assistants to be so kind, but if that had happened to me I would have been mortified. Feel for you.

I got 2 tops for £5. One was meant to be £25, the other was £14.
I got a boys fleece for £7 was £16. Really thick and cosy and a set of ear muffs for £2. A lot of bras left for £4 were £16 and £22 and stick on bras reduced from £22 to £5. Didn't have my size but might help someone.
They were all stamped with S so they can't be taken back but I tried the tops on and they fitted and have just given my DS the fleecie and it's a perfect fit so I'm happy.

Thank you, I went to the main till when i bought something else later, and they were lovely. It was just to two SAs on the Per Una till.
They seem really annoyed that I was buying sale items, before we even had the query on the price tag.

DH says the red 'non returnable reductions' signs were up in Swansea Oxford St - but the prices hadn't changed!! He left well alone.

  • Loads of stock left at Manchester Arndale store, but the prices haven't moved down even a teeny-weeny bit. The 'Final Reductions' banner was up, but personally I think it is misleading as they haven't reduced the prices, but are stamping items so that they are non-returnable.

They shouldn't have quibbled with you! & certainly not accuse you of tampering. On the first day of reductions I was in my local m&s early and the lady was busy tagging, I saw several pairs of trousers for £12 reduced from £99, took them to the till and they scanned at £29. She went to speak to the lady tagging and she said she could have kicked herself at her error. But the product has to be sold to you at the price stated so that was that.

Also had the same issue with a dress thats sticker said £12.00 instead of £120.00 down to £45.00, but I had it for £12:j
    Whether we win or lose,
that we played at all was a winning decision. :D
    2011 wins £12,292
    2012 wins ...
Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A

Overall I've found these final sale reductions have been quite disappointing. For instance, I went to check the current price for an item where the original price appeared to be £12 (had a reduced sticker of £7 on it) to see if it was now any lower and it wasn't. Not even half price - yet a final reduction!
  • God! I thought it was just me! I went to Southampton West Quay yesterday and the 'final reductions' appeared to be nothing extra on top of the first line reductions. There was a childrens Christmas outfit down from £15 to £12!! WTH?

On the whole I've found sot of the high street sales hugely disappointing this year.
