Porting number from o2 PAYG to carphonewarehouse
Is it possible to port number from o2 PAYG direct to carphonewarehouse o2 contract (e2save), without first porting to another 'network'. i.e. just give PAC to e2save at time of ordering
My understanding is that because o2 direct and carphonewarehouse o2 are different 'service providers' this is possible. Anyone know any different?

You are correct that O2 pre-pay and O2 CPW are different service providers. A number migration (changing service provider without changing network operator) is therefore technically possible.medic1978 wrote:Is it possible to port number from o2 PAYG direct to carphonewarehouse o2 contract (e2save), without first porting to another 'network'. i.e. just give PAC to e2save at time of ordering

However, the commission a dealer such as e2save would earn on such a connection is considerably less than for a new network connection. As a result dealers tend not to facilitate migrations and so you would need to port to another network and then back again, as you have said.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

From e2save.coms quite noticeable, 'Can i keep my number' link;If you are planning to port from one network to another then we can process a port for you. Please see the relevant network porting section above.
If you want to continue on your existing network and transfer your number to pay monthly (e.g. port from Virgin Mobile pay as you go to Virgin Mobile pay monthly) we cannot process these ports for you at present.CPW Retail
