Don't expect to spend the night at the Crown Plaza but have to kip in the car.

I would think a taxi and the Hoppa will be pretty much the same price for your party for T123. For T4 or 5 the taxi will be more. The taxi will go straight there rather than wandering round other hotels as well.

Don't recall whether there's a Harvester nearby or not . The first time we stayed there they gave us a voucher for half price breakfast - still quite pricy even so. The second time they didn't so went to the airport early rather than pay (I think) £28. Each. Yes, that's not a typo.

Never eaten in the evening - usually done so before leaving home or on the way.

We're flying on the Sunday, staying on the Saturday so setting off earlier and will find somewhere to eat (outside the hotel!) after we arrive.

It is T5, but easier in a taxi than bus with luggage and a five year old.

We'll get breakfast at the airport, a lot cheaper as you say, but also something to do when waiting for the plane.

    Hi,

You could try bidding on priceline - I got the marriott next to the M4 for less than £50 .... their price quoted on the website was £190.

A very good call I think...there's just two of us and luggage and while we normally get the Hoppa to the hotel when we arrive via Heathrow Express (and have almost always just missed one, which is annoying) and occasionally the free local bus when we've been booked at the Park Inn, we always get a taxi to the airport...just SO much nicer and less stressful. We've seen Hoppa buses leave full with passengers still waiting...I wouldn't cope well with an unexpected delay like that, even though I would have built in loads of extra time. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Priceline? Direct? Holiday Extras?

We stayed at Holiday Inn M4 Junction 4 as a mystery hotel last September. Parking at 6 pm on a Saturday night was very difficult to find, but the hotel was OK for the night.

Dining at the hotel was expensive, but immediately on the left outside the barrier is a small pub which does very well priced good food by London prices (2 meals for less than £20).

Taxi to Terminal 3 was less than £10 for two of us on a Sunday.

Holiday Extras, isn't that the subject of the thread?

We booked an undercover hotel with holiday extras in September for £81 which included 15 days free parking - it was Holiday Inn M4 J4.
The parking was horrendous - cars were being abandoned everywhere and we had to park on a bit of grass round the back of the hotel! The hotel was alright (generic airport hotel) but the food was really expensive and the drinks even more so. I didn't find out til I got the bll next morning that 2 vodka and cranberry juices came to just under £20 - unbelievable, it wasn't even premium brand vodka!
It was much cheaper though oddly to stay in a hotel for the night then to drive up and park the car in a airport carpark for 2 weeks.
