Noone forced you to live 30 miles from civilization.

OP, I did what your thinking about 2 n half years ago, I had 18 months left on my orignal car loan and put it back up to 5 years, the repayments went up. Now I still have 2 n half years left to pay so I'm still in the same position. The cars not worth as much as the loan.

We are sorry we did it then so my advice is to try and stick with the car you have and get rid of the loan by overpaying as much as you can afford.

    HTH.

Good guess but wrong as I live 5 mins away from a tube station. However my job requires I have a car as do many other peoples.

However living 30 mins from civilisation (spelt with an S) would save me about £200,000 on my house price which is a bigger saving than going without a car....

I believe this lady asked for advice from people and not pointless opinions, however this forum is riddled with people desperate to give opinions rather than advice.

looks like this thread is really about managing debt, not buying a car

maybe OP needs to get advice on how to pay off the current loan much more economically
  • You must be crazy to even think about this.
    Don't do it!!

Look at my sig,I'm talking from experience.
I took a personal loan for a car then stupidly decided to buy another of finance. I am paying for a car I haven't even got!
I am 23 and I too am starting to think about moving out but can't because of this horrible debt! Luckily both my loan and finance end at the back end of this year.

Please just manage paying your current car, keep it serviced regular and you will find out of any faults before they get worse.
Buying the 'new' car has Been the worst decision of my life along side accepting a credit card! Please don't make the same mistake.

    Good luck.

Nobody " needs " a car, they can use a bike or a moped.

    .

Exactly, it is a " convenience " as I said before.

Nobody " needs " a car, there are many people that do not drive, they manage just fine.

I NEED a car or I can't do my job!! simple.

For a lot of people a car is a necessity and I can't believe I'm having to explain this to adults!!!!
