just had an idea  eveyone knows that sunbeds are bad for you as you can get skin cancer so everyone is selling them on ebay cheap.
so if i buy a few i can fit them above my solar panels on my roof
and i can generate loads of power:T
not only that they will work 24/7
and they will illuminate my house at night aswell:j
think i have just invented Perpetual motion
think i might patent this idea and make sheds loads of dosh then i can move to the caribbean:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:0 -
Yup ... Sounds perfect !
Oh ... Just a small matter of The Law of Diminishing returns to get round now ;-)0 -
Do you have your own eco-system ? ;-) Its nothing but cloud here in the West Midlandsteachergirl wrote: »Essex does have some advantages;)
It could just be a reflection off the 'tango glow ':D
But even here in north-east Essex we've had a good amount of sun most days this week - 54kWh generated in the last 7 days(2.22kWp system)
Coming up for the 1st anniversary of my system installation at the start of next week
:j 2358kWh generated to date :j2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Got the makings of a great product there, one which could easily rank alongside other greats such as power conditioning optimizers, 150% efficient electric heaters, magnets on fuel lines .... et al.
.... Where do we buy these solar panel turbochargers, I might just need one ? ......... joking aside, 'if you market it, they will come', 'they' being the gullible, so it could be a good little earner ...

Ah .... apprentices, yes they'd probably be the initial target market, good spot ....
as an apprentice i did not fall for it but i used it as an excuse to skive off work waitin in the stores room waiting for one of the above
having said that i worked for ici and the boss told one person to paint his office he replied what do u want he said just paint eveything go to the stores and get some paint and do it.
so he did he painted the walls roof windows desk floor light everthing all one colour when the boss came back he lost his rag but the person said you told me to pain everything so i did.
true story
a nother one ws told to paint the hand rails with black and white stripes so he painted the first 6" of white paint then went to the canteen 6 hrs later the boss found him and said how come you have only done one stripe he repiled im waiting for the paint to dry so i can do the next stripe.
this was also true i was the boss
now you can see why i have now retired with bad nerves :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
chris.blanchett wrote: »It is worth mentioning that if you live in an area that doesn't enjoy nice long sunny days (ie. the north) your PV system will become a load if it isn't generating electricity. Your installation team should have made note of your location and fitted bypass diodes that force shaded areas of your PV array to maintain the flow of current through the shaded cells and keep it in equilibrium with the unshaded part of the array. Without bypass diodes your array will start to develop 'hotspots' which, over time, will lead to a failure of that module, and thus the entire array, until the faulty panel is replaced.
If you have on site battery storage you will also need to ensure blocking diodes are installed which prevent a reverse flow of current from the batteries to the PV array at night when the PV array isn't generating electricity. You don't want your batteries discharging themselves completely each night as that would completely negate the point of installing them.
Most, if not all, panels contain factory installed bypass diodes.0 -
I can recommend this if anyone wants a cost effective way of monitoring and logging PV output.
Its designed for monitoring usage but it works the same for generation.
Remote monitoring, web interface, iPhone app, etc.
And a lot cheaper than the web loggers from the inverter companies.0
