    Making the most of it....

My Ecodan heat pump (8.5kW) is running, heating the house, and drawing a steady 960 Watts/hr, its 8.50am, 7.1 degrees outside, and my panels are currently generating 1.36kW's.....who else is getting their heating for free?

    heating?

I've got all my windows open, sat in the garden in a T shirt ;)

ps forgot the important bit, generating 3kW :D

No, you forgot the even more important bit, "I wish these d__n things worked in winter!";)
2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.

This thread is steadily changing into a British version of 'Where's Waldo?'

Don, it would help us immensely if you'd pop on a stripy shirt, hat and funny glasses?

After checking TG's passport at the border, we are now trying to re-configure our 'sats' to find you again, but it 'does mean changing the bulb!'

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

I sometimes wonder if I've accidentally logged into a divorced and desperates lonely hearts website sometimes. Either that or a place where physics no longer applies, and electrical equipment can take any volatge/current/power you throw at it and not complain. (and where power is measured in watts/h instead of watts ... oopse). And if not those, a place where simply buying solar panels imparts seven years worth of engineering university education in the brain and everyone suddenly is an expert in everything electrical). And if none of those, then simply a rent an argument site, where even manufacturer's operating manuals are declared totally incorrect!

Anyhow, my plan is similar to what you do - except I intend to get one or two or three air to air heatpumps. For a lot of weeks, like now (8C, nearish S coast) it could supply heating, and in the summer supply aircon. ATM i just run dehumidifiers when I have excess generation - I only have to find a use for a few hundred watts usually, max I've seen was yesterday at 1.2kW, so dehumidifiers work well for me. (Having said that, I agree with Cardew who said he thought however much you try to use more of what you generate, the difference beytween that and simply setting a timeswitch and hoping for the best will be a max saving of an extra £25pa if you're good at it - so really it isn't worth the hassle. I'll add that I think there's a danger for some of actually increasing bills by trying to use what they've generated).

Do you know if airtoair HPs, (mitsui say) can dehumidify when heating? The manual isn't clear (obviously it automatically dehumidifies when cooling).
