Call me old fashioned lvm, but with the money you have recently got from Inland Revenue and the £240 cash (from where I can't remember) would pay off the two smaller moble accounts Would that not be a good idea and they start chipping away at another? Billie x

    Hey Billie!

To be honest none of my debts are accruing any interest so I'm better off making some money in an ISA. I did actually write to the mobile phone people offering them a settlement - one declined and the other didn't reply. At least I'm not doing anything stupid and spending the money though and if things got desperate I'd have the cash to pay the debts off.

How amazing is the news about the goodwill payments Halifax are going to be paying?!?!

Thankfully I fit into all their criteria and all being well should get £1553 paid to my mortgage account, taking over 1.5 years off the mortgage term! Better not get my hopes up too much though!

No other news on the debt front but shall be sure to update my diary when there is some! xx

Well...received a letter from Wescot rejecting my offer of £500 as F&F settlement against £2,477.63 Halifax debt but offering partial settlement of £1238.82.

So...the letter they sent was very vague so I'm writing to them again asking them to confirm in writing that it's a full and final settlement with no-one else able to pursue debt and balance reduced to £0 and saying I'll pay £1000 for the privilege.

As long as they confirm what I've asked them to though, I'll pay the 50% (good offer considering the debt is still with Halifax and not a DCA I reckon!)

Final reply from a DCA about my offer of Full and Final Settlement. Lowel Portfolio - but they've just said "thanks for the query - we need to make some enquiries and we'll get back to you etc etc". Must say that the letter is very poorly worded with some words missing and incorrect words used! Think if they accept my offer I'm going to send a letter back telling them that!

So, I've eventually found a temporary lodger! Collected deposit today and will start receiving £350 a month rent from 1st April til at least the end of August. At least then I'll be used to living with someone and maybe it'll be easy enough to find someone else.

So...no excuses for any more financial mess - it's gonna all be sorted soon! Woo hoo!

Well, that was my first day out delivering Census Questionnaires today and OMG - I am in soooo much pain I can hardly move!

I got a wee text from the Census Team Leader last week asking if anyone could do an extra district and I stupidly agreed - so instead of delivering 459 Questionnaires I have a grand total of 911 to deliver. So we all had our 2nd training session today and I went out delivering straight after and was out for 5 hours and managed to deliver 172 envelopes (2 full streets). I have 739 left to deliver and 12 days to do them. Thank God I'm off work from a week tomorrow.

Well, at least doing the extra district means an extra £750 over and above what I was expecting. So hopefully around £1200 after tax in total...all going towards debt of course! Although looks like I'll need to keep some for my holiday - I kind of got persuaded into booking up 3 nights in London. Got a very good deal though - £247 each and I got some dosh back through Quidco and all our meals we'll be using Taste Card or buying some of the Groupon deals...

Off to bed now to try and sleep off the pain...

Well, I'm lying on the sofa in a friend's house so thought I might as well type in a little update.

So, not much change on the debt front. :( Still waiting on 2 replies on settlement offers. Think it may be time to send a little reminder to them.

The Census job has been going rather well. All deliveries done and need to wait til Tuesday til I can go back round the houses again to anyone who hasn't returned theirs. Get my first pay next week too :T

Got a surprising little phonecall today from the Elections Office about an application I'd filled in to work at the voting station. They just called up to offer me a job - no interview or anything. And the nice part - £175 for a days work (£140 after tax). The catch - I have to work from 6.15am to 10pm and am not allowed to leave the building for obvious reasons. Better try and get the day off the normal job...

    Well, not much else happening!

    Nighty night xxx

    Well, I'm rather annoyed!

After returning a call to Wescot, they're basically just telling me they're sticking to their guns with their "partial settlement" and what's more, they won't guarantee that no-one else will pursue me for the debt! And the guy thought telling me that he'd send me a receipt would make me pay up! Lol

    Next stop...phone Halifax!

Well, I got my little Halifax goodwill payment credited to my mortgage today. All £1500 of it! Woo hoo! Doesn't give me much chance to ask for it in cash I suppose so might as well just leave it there for now!
