Windows Vista - Free Upgrade - NOT BETA!!!

Title is also misleading as Vista is still in beta atm.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0

Freebies go in the freebie forum, not Quick! Grabbit. If it's in Quick! Grabbit then it won't usually be freeMight be more helpful if the title was clearer, I personally took it as a free upgrade regardless, hence the wasted click thru (for me), however it may prove to be a cheap purchase of vista - again i don't know the rrp of vista.
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Does this work ?
You have 2 PCs, one is 98 or ME and one is XP. You buy the XP package and upgrade the 98 or ME PC with that. Then, whey you get your Vista, you upgrade the XP PC with that ?
Is that possible. That would be a bargain ?0 -
I like how Aria's crossed out "20007" and replaced it with "2007" on the XP Pro....what's that about?!
Edit: Haha, looks like someone at Aria has a sense of humour!

I understand the title is (very) slightly misleading, I would edit the title, however, I cannot. And It technically is in the correct forum as you get it free with a purchase of XP.
There are too many people too quick to criticize on these forums, I don't know why I bothered.0 -
OK.. Guys..
The talked about update to the OS will be AERO, this is the new VISTA interface and the reason you need a decent PC to run VISTA. This is only included in the premium edition. There is also a Ultimate edition that includes media centre (Microsofts replacement for you home entertainment systems)

Im not convinced its a good deal, and i would really wait a little while to see what people think to VISTA and its resource requirements. Ultimately you can get the release candidate for free and buy VISTA on release if you really like it.0 -
Thats interesting, we downloaded the RC for Vista and it looked like it had a long way to go to be finished, lots of the screens were in black and white and we spent ages trying to find drivers that are included with XP. We eventually gave up and abandoned it until the proper release. If you are happy with it though I am wondering if there is a problem with our version.libitina wrote:We're on Vista (beta) and I rather like it...

Just click on 'Edit' & then on the 'Go Adanced' button & you'll be able to do itgifteddante wrote:I understand the title is (very) slightly misleading, I would edit the title, however, I cannot.
.
Free means 'no spend', but I'm not too sure it is - "*Subject to upgrade, shipping and handling fee from Microsoft."And It technically is in the correct forum as you get it free with a purchase of XP.
I don't think they were criticising - they were being honest about what it meant for them, & I didn't get a sense of malice in their posts. One has to agree they have a point though - 'free' after all means just that. GThere are too many people too quick to criticize on these forums, I don't know why I bothered.0 -
Our screen is fine, we've had to get a beta version of aol and couldn't get a driver for the printer straight away, but so far seems to be fine........
Only the main pc has it on, the laptop and sprogs is still xp.When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0
