2 computers 1 lost internet

my neighbour has just bought a new computer a BT engineer set it up ,still running the old computer as well (he needed to transfer stuff)Both ran for several days fine now the new (Dell inspiron touch screen)won't connect to the internet ?When clicking on the connection icon it say's it is connected to the hub and the old computer running off the same hub is fine .He's inclined to be "click happy"so may well have touched something. I'm not very techie, the best I've done is push in all the plugs.
Any suggestions please :)

If it's connected to the hub, but can't access the net, the bt help software should kick in when you open the browser.

The bt software should then guide you through the various options.

But if the bt help windows don't open what does happen when you open a browser?

Could be a firewall issue - check the settings either within windows, or within whatever security software it's running. If the firewall isn't allowing incoming connections, or is blocking the browser program from accessing the web, then it won't work.
