Thank for your reply Jwil. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. Have been at my Gran's in Ireland. Yep - have had loads of people to look through my applications. All apparently ok , but tough job market. Can' t teach in Ireland as my skills aren ' t transferable. Have done 8 applications today. Hope you're all well:)0

Hi stressed,
I wondered where you had got to.... now we know.
You have two ways of looking at the situation you are in at the moment. All well and good hanging on for a supply job but if there is relatively little chance of this happening in your area then you will only become more and more downhearted. So.... you can either look for other kinds of work - anything at all but just to get you back into work mode ( I have a cleaning job and yet I have a MBA) Times have changed. Or, you can relocate (difficult, I know) to an area where supply or permanent work is more available. What you shouldn't do is get too depressed because that will quickly come across in your applications and interviews, should you be offered one. It is a self fulfilling prophecy, I am afraid, that if we think we will get a kick back - invariably it will happen that way.
Keep posting though and we will all support you. Any chance of working from home at anything? Ebay selling or doing boot sales when spring comes. That is what I am doing this year. No matter how poor an area is, boot sales are always well attended.
Enough blurb from me
Good Luck

Thanks Startagain, and to anyone else out there for their advice
. I have had a lot of time to think. This is what I'm going to do
In the long term
Apply for teaching jobs anywhere in the uk - I have already sent off nine today:T
If by the end of this summer I am still unlucky i will look elsewhere besides teaching
In the short term
Keep doing supply here - Well it's better than nothing
Also try to apply for a part time/weekend job somewhere else.

Well 18 job applications done this week, and 2 and a half days work next week. Woohoo:j!
Have also been savig my pennies and pounds - um have about £10, but better than nothing I also have a £50 note that I have to cash in - might open a savings account?
It seems that MFL is now becoming popular in primary schools too:T, as I'm trained to teach languages in secondary, but prefer to teach them in primary.
My car is also being fixed for £0 by my Dad's friend - a very kind man:D- not sure how I can repay him.
I feel positive this week, and also as if I've had a productive week. Sorry for waffling on
! Hope you've all had a good week, and have a good weekend:)

There you are!
Stressed,
Please tell me to shut up if I get a bit bossy or preachy - I am a bit like that and it is only when I re read my posts I think "Oh Gawd, what must they think?"
Fantastic news about the work next week. Let's hope it snowballs and you will eventually be working most days. Fingers crossed.
Cup cakes are BIG now. Well done for seeing an oportunity - I just wish we had more things like that at our weekly market. There is a fish man, meat man and veggie stalls but something a bit different like cupcakes would be great. A nice little birthday prezzie too.
What is MFL? I am pretty good at abbreviations but can't get this one. Something - foreign language? Help?
Have a good day and keep us up to date with work developments.
Hugs

You could advertise locally as a babysitter, investigate babysitting agencies - or even look into how to start one if there's nothing near you. That's instant money - and won't get in the way of job hunting, interviews, or suddenly getting some supply work.0

Start again - I don' t think you're bossy or preachy!! Any advice is always helpful! MFL - yep you're right. Modern Foreign Languages.
I love cupcakes - just hope I don' t eat them all:rotfl:!
Babysitting:money:, thanks Pastures New - I don ' t know why I didn' t think about that myself- doh! I will go and investigate now!
Thank you everybody for all your help, support and suggestions:A

Are you registered with Eteach? We can only obtain supply staff via them, I know its the same with a lot of other Welsh LEAs.
Have you tried advertising locally as a 1:1 teacher for specific subjects to help with entrance exams or catch up programmes or pupils who need extra help? Could you approach local schools and offer language classes after school or on Saturdays to help children learn a second language? Have you considered contacting after school clubs and summer holiday schemes to offer your services as a playworker?Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Perhaps you could run a little pre holiday course teaching a few words and phrases? I know my boss went on one last year for 6 weeks before a trip abroad. I speak Spanish and he would practise his new words with me. Hilarious!
My dd set up a little babysitting agency about 2 years ago and she does OK with it. It is not ultra busy but she has some regulars that keep it ticking over. Good luck in your ventures...

Hello everyone.
I hope you are all well. Yep, I'm signed up with eteach. Would be signed up with a suply agency but there aren't any anywhere near where I live. Little holiday club sounds good too!
Good news - my car has been fixed and I'm back on the road:D! I have also had work everyday this week:), but this does mean that I now need to get a move on with the applications:o
Hope you're all well!
