Hello everybody!
First of all Happy New Year to you all:beer:! I have decided that I'm gonig to make a huge effort to pay off as much as I can this year. Not sure how I'm going to do it, but I will - must think positive thoughts!
I feel I've had a rough couple of years, and want that to stop. Got made redundant, rented flat had a flood due to man upstairs so had to relocate, car broke dowm, and can't afford to fix it, had an operation in hospital that went wrong and kept being rushed into hospital about 5 times now , also had to have a 24 hour blood pressure monitor as it's too high, and had to move back in with my parents:(!
Anyway, enough of the moaning! This year can only get better as the song says:j! I still don't have a job, am still living with my parents and my car is still sittting outside the driveway!
I have been applying all over the place but no luck. My parents have been excellent all throughout this, but I am going to be 30 in October, and feel that I've gone backwards!
Not all is doom and gloom though. I'd had a few bits and pieces of work doing suply teaching, but not much at all! My dad's friend said he might also be able to look at my car - so might be up and running. Have also put my name down for the pay off as much as you can challenge for 2011, but don't know how to do signatures!
Well sorry for the rambling, but feel a bit better posting this. Wishing everyone on here the best in their debt busting, and any advice appreciated!

Hi stressed,
To edit your signature - go into Usercp at the top of the page and on the left hand side you will see Edit Signature about halfway down. Go into that and you can do your own signature.
As for the other stuff, I was made redundant in July last year and at 54 was really worried about finding another job in the rural North East. After 3 months and lots of applications I got a job that was for 13 hours a week and a bit "beneath me" skills wise. But I took it and a couple of months later I have been given more hours and more responsibility. In my opinion it is better to do anything than nothing - it makes getting out of bed worthwhile and keeps you in some sort of daily routine.
Good luck in your job search and I hope you can get your car sorted out. I shall follow your progress.
Best wishes

Thanks Start again. Tried user cp but didn't work. Not reallly technically minded - but sure I'll work it out. Have managed to post this post twice - i think:o!
Sorry to hear you were made redundant. I'm please you got a job in the end and they gave you more hours:j., even if you are more skilled than your job! I know what you mean about not having a routine. I am on the supplky list so have to be available each morning even though 99.9% of the time I have nothing:(! I can't even sign on!
The job situation were I live is awful , and most people move, but as I have no money, I can't even afford the rent to move it's catch 22.
I'm not going to give up though:)!!0 -
You have had a tough couple of years stressed, but here's to a better 2011.
Good luck with the debtbusting!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Yey - signature just came up:j! all thanks to Start AgainThanks jwil. Hope things are better in 2011 too! I had a pair of Miss lucky socks and a pair of horse shoe earrings so nothing can stop me now:cool:!
Feeling a bit panicky today that no one wants me for a job. I've applied to loads all over the place - and no one wants me:(. Wishing sometimes I never went to Uni! I still have £213.40 to pay off a month with virtually no money. I managed to get into about £12,000 debt:eek:, stupidly, but have now paid about half of it. I just want to be gone:mad:/ I sometimes keep bursting into tears because of the whole situation.
Right well rant over , 2011 IS going to be more productive! As the song goes 'I get knocked down' but I get up again', quite literally in my case at times:rotfl:! I have already sent anoher lot of job applications, started saving pennies in a jar, and doing online surveys. Haven' t done the ebay thing yet, but I will! Has anyone got any other ideas on how to make anymore money from nothing?
Hope everyone elses debt busting is going well:D, we CAN do it:j. 2011 the year of positive thoughts!:beer:0 -
Well done on paying off half your debt, that is great! Keep applying for those jobs, something will come up eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later.
You could always have a look on the up your income board and try some mystery shopping. It doesn't pay hugely, but every little bit helps!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
you will get there. Sign on with as many supply agencies as you can. Just remember that things are always slow at the start and end of the term and, as soon as you get jobs, your face will be known by different schools in your area. The more well known your face is the more requests you will get.0

Hi ShinyToaster. Thanks for the reply:)! I would sign up to some supply teaching agencies, but there are none were I live, and the nearest agency is about 3 hours drive away:(. Yeah I know things always slow at the start and end. I'm working in a couple of schools at the mo in my area, but there hasn ' t been a lot A lotof the Head Teacher's have said sorry they haven ' t been using me lately but the council have cut their allowance for course etc.
There are virtually no jobs here. I will have to move in the long run. Thinking of Bristol But it's a catch 22. I've been lucky enough to be staying with my parents rent free, but there just aren' t the jobs, If I move, obviously I'll have to pay rent, but then with supply you can't really say whether I'll be lucky or not and don't really want to go into more debt! Aaarrghhh:eek:! I'm totally confused. As you know I've been finding it really difficult to get a job. I am a teacher, and that's all I ever really wanted to do. However I have family in Ireland - yep not the the best place for jobs at the mo but my uncle over there helps people get jobs and my Grandad said he would pay me to be his housekeeper and cleaner. What do I do - do go to Ireland and forget about the teaching, and find something else ,or stick with applying for teaching jobs - I've been applying for the last 18 months now.:( I'm so confused! Help!
VERY stressed Welsh Girl xx0 -
Great - having a rubbish day Don't thinm anyone wants me:(. Keep filling the applications but with no luck - help!0

Stressedwelshgirl - you will get a job. Is there someone that could have a look over your applications for you to check that you are selling yourself well enough? You sound like you've got a lot of experience, so you will get something. It's that unfortunate time of year where few people are hiring.
Did you have any thoughts about the Ireland job? Is it something you could perhaps combine with teaching over there - do some supply work and do the cleaning 'out of hours'?
Are you applying for jobs elsewhere - you mentioned Bristol (not too far from me!) If you had a job in Bristol to go to, then you could look for somewhere to rent, rather than just moving down and trying to get something then. Alternatively, have you spoken to the supply agencies there - find out whether they've got much work on. If they have, then it may be worth taking the risk, but if not, you know there's not much point.
Is there something else you could do - childcare, nurseries that sort of thing? You'll have a lot of transferable skills.
Just a couple of thoughts off the top of my head, you've probably considered them all
