Do you get extra channels with freeview?

We are thinking of getting rid of the Sky box & buying a free view instead - we have a basic Sky package - not interested in sport. We really looking to save money & don't watch much TV but like factual documentaries etc. Would freeview suit us?

put it this way, We have freeview and have got no intention of getting sky+:-)

Yes - you get about 30 watchable channels (70-ish in total, but I'm not counting channels like QVC, Adult Filth, Teletext Holidays, etc.). It's better that the standard five terrestrial channels, anyway.

you would be better off comparing the channels you get with sky to the channels on freeview
