Hello, need some help with this, the answer iapeona ly really obvious...
Moved in to anew flat in november and the main tv in the living room will only show black and White, not colour! What equipment would we need go get for the aerial in order to make it go to colour? We've got freeview box and it works, but in black and White. Its not the TV as this is colour when we plug in an xbox. Any ideas??
Many thanks

How is the freeview box connecting to the TV? Have you tried a different cable?0

Make sure the Scart lead is properly connected to the TV and Freeview box.0

1stly don't start barking up the wrong tree, have you tried another tv in the aerial socket?
the settings on the TV may allow for diffwernet colour and contrast settings for different sources, do a factory reset on the TV :cool:0 -
Maybe your TV is set to NTSC rather than PAL? This could give B&W pictures. The Xbox may be going through another connection, or even be set to NTSC output.
As DUTR suggests, see if you can do a factory reset on the TV.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Thanks for all the replies! We have tried other TVs in there and it's the same. It is an outdoor aerial that goes in to the freeview box and, AFAIK, a scart lead connects the TV and FV box. The bedroom next to the living room also has the same problem (outdoor aerial, black and White TV reception), but the other 2 bedrooms also have outdoor aerials and they work perfectly. Flummoxing! Will try the factory reset when I am home, just thought there might be something that can be attached to the aerial cable to make it work!0

Maybe the Xbox is using component/RGB video whilst the connection from the Freeview box is using composite video and the TV is set to (or made for) the wrong colour system, or has a fault in it's colour decoding circuit.
Is the Freeview box set to provide an RGB output? Is the TV connected to an output of the Freeview box that provides an RGB output, such as a SCART socket labeled TV, rather than a SCART socket labelled VCR/video?
Is the Freeview box connected to a SCART socket that accepts an RGB input? Try swapping it with the XBox.
Is the SCART cable complete? One made for use with a VCR (video cassette recorder) may not be.
A poor signal from an aeriel cannot turn digital TV into black and white, though it is often does so to analogue TV.0
