Virgin Mobile Credit Limits

Hi,

I just signed up to Virgin pay monthly £10. 3000 texts and 200 minutes.

Virgin gave me a ridiculous credit limit of £125, which I have had lowered to £10, and the CS rep told me that the phone will be cut off soon after the limit is reached - in a day or so. Why they can't cut it off straight away is beyond me!

What I want to ask is why I could not have a limit lower than £10 - I want to spend £10 a month, not £20! The rep tried to explain it but it didn't make any sense.
Can anyone explain this need to have credit, and if there are providers who have lower credit limits?

Thanks :)

  • Can you lower the limit to £0 (if you want) to stop you going over the limit as such?

The only other network off the top of my head is 3.

The reason why it might not get cut off straight away is because it can take a while for details of your calls/texts/internet and roaming data to reach the account before it's applied meaning they can't cut this off in real time.
    David :)
£1 of debt is too much for me!

Are you planning to use the internet a lot, or send texts abroad or call premium rate lines? I've had a Virgin mobile for 10 years, my account credit limit is something like £250 but I've never actually paid more than about £2 more than my tariff because I'm just using the calls, texts and web that are included. With 3000 texts and 200 minutes you shouldn't really need to worry about the credit limit!

Its because you need £10 credit for your £10 a month contract, so you shouldnt, in theory ,be able to use above the contracted amount of texts and minutes

I can see that, only Virgin insist on my having credit to spend an extra £10.
