Being off work sick is no reason to claim DLA. It's not given for everyday living costs whilst out of work (like ESA) and it awarded on the basis of having care and /or mobility needs.

I do know what DLA is thanks I was claiming it as an extra benefit!! I have a back/hip problem, so I have some help in dressing and I can't walk far without being in severe pain! Hope that's reason enough for you why I claimed! My post was nothing to do with DLA!

Most diabetic people won't qualify for DLA unless they have another medical condition, preventing them from self-care.

    Which the OP does.

That's a bit rude to someone trying to help you!

The tone of the post wasn't nice, it was implying that I tried to claim DLA just because I'm off sick. I'm sorry but I'm not having someone speak to me that way. The post was nothing at all to do with my original post. It was nit picking!

No. I was pointing out that DLA isn't a sickness / out of work benefit.

It was informative ( not everybody knows that you can work and claim DLA) and you are being oversensitive.

Your GP should be able to do it under minor surgery. I had mine removed by the Doctor.

OP if you've worded the DLA form as if you are claiming because you are out of work then that will be why you never received the benefit. Sh was quite right to point out that it is not an out of work benefit as you may have been putting an incorrect slant on your needs when writing out the form.

I wasnt claiming because I was 'out of work'! I was claiming because i am off 'work' sick and after reading the claim form it seemed appropriate for me to claim this due to my health needs!

Take a chill pill hen, being off work long term sick is pretty much on a par with being out of work due to disability.
