No, he tries to point out when people post in the wrong forum. Most people know they're posting in the wrong forum but still do it because they'll get a bigger response here.If you like to see how a bargain forum should work try HUKD, just posts about good deals and not all the twaddle thats posted here.0 -
Have known it to start on a tuesday so anyones guess but definitely around 16th january, often just before as always managed to pick bargains for my dads birthday years ago. Lets hope weather does not make us wait until 20th this year. I would guess not before thursday 13th, and have never know it to start on a friday or weekend. My store still had quite a few good bits other day, Fearne hatboxes, Joules sets, even some S & G and lots of No 7 so I am hoping for a good 75% sale this year.0

Somewhere in this thread, somebody asked about the 90% sale. I can only speak from my own experience, and that was at Bluewater, on the 28th January 2009 - it's in my diary.
They had some items left over in the 75% sale, I believe they included wrapping paper, the pink doggy book ends and some photo brag books. In the Good Ol' Days, when Mr Boots used to give us loads of brilliant vouchers from the ACM, I used to put a different sort of voucher in each pocket of the brag book (sighs!).
Well, the photo albums were something like £4, and had been reduced to £1 in the 75% sale, and were bright yellow. A lady took a couple and went to pay for them, and then came rushing back, whilst the rest of us were looking at the ol' tosh left there and said "They've made a mistake!!! They're deducting 90% from the 75% sale price!! I've just paid 10p for these!!" :j
I seem to remember I got some rolls of wrapping paper for 2p, or something like that! But there's not usually much left over by the end of January, and the 75% sale is hit and miss. Some stores may not have much left but remember, some people may have been given Christmas gifts that they don't want, and they may not be returning them until Tuesday onwards.
If you want to go to the 75% sale, and haven't been before, here are a few tips:
Wear layers, so that when the temperature reaches tropical levels inside the store, you can strip off gradually!
Make sure you've been to the loo before the fun begins!
Try to visit your chosen branch the day before, so you can check the layout of the sale stuff and list what you want to get.
If you want a lot of stuff, get a trolley from M & S, or a supermarket, if there's one near your branch, cos your arms will ache.
Be prepared to be disappointed
If you've been saving your points, guard your advantage card with your life!
If you're going to shop online as well/instead - be prepared for The Long Haul. There is no way of knowing exactly when the 75% sale starts, and you will be frustrated with a screen showing annoying pictures of orange-coloured people - you won't be able to access the Boots site.
By 2.30 am, people will post things like "are you still awake?" and then when it goes live ................... it'll crash 3 seconds later! When you finally manage to access the site, you'll experience pure joy, as you load your basket, and then, just as you get to the checkout page - you'll lose the lot!
But that's the fun of Boots!Good luck! HTH

From reading online it seems that every store has mounds of the 'Fearne Cotton Hat Boxes' left! seems the Boots buyers have badly misjudged the demand on that one!0 -

Excellent tips!!
Last year i was outside our local store 2 hours before opening... unfortunately couldn't get a trolley so managed (how i dont know!) to hold 2 baskets along with a big blue bag on each shoulder full of stuff! The aisle in my local boots was 2 people wide.. so you can imagine the carnage!!
I was running on adrenaline as i had stayed awake all through the night looking at the picture of the orange couple...if i remember rightly the site came up at about 5am? I made the mistake of not going to bed for fear the site would come up at about midnight (pfft - wishful thinking) so if you intend to be as crazy as me and not sleep for over 24 hours you will also need plenty of red bull and pro plus!
I managed to do an online order at 5am and visit two boots stores that day......:o
I do cherish my 75% sale memories....All hail to the sale!!!!!!
new beginnings...... new successes..0 -

Sweetie, I should start clearing all your furniture away in your mansion/house/bungalow/flat, cos we're all gonna be sleeping on your floors, staying overnight before the 75% sale, so we can go to your branch! Where d'you live? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
