Hallo
Would like some advice please - my 12 year old has asked for a smart phone for her birthday. No one else in the household has one although my brother has an iphone which he loves. My budget is £100 and she would like to be able to check and send emails and have a camera. She has a samsung on Orange at the moment on PAYG.
Any recommendations - preferably one that is not too difficult to use!
Many thanks
Richmond

have a look at the orange san francisco, it is an android phone so can fully do email, web browsing, angry birds and other apps, and has wifi so won't require a large data add on if she is only going to be using data at home.
as it is on orange so because you already have an orange sim they may be able to waive the £10 top up (or if they can't then at least you can use it), it is also very easy (and free) to unlock to use on any other network.
also because she in on orange she may have a 'phone fund' (gives you a bit of money each time you top up for a new phone) that can be used to discount the phone.0 -
Thank you will take a look at the San Francisco - have not heard of that one.

totally agree, after advice on this forum i bought my 11 year old daughter the san francisco for xmas.
it is fab for the money and she loves it. it is android so a lot of the apps are free to download. also it has wi fi . i dont think you will be disapointed with this choice.0 -
If you go for the San Fran phone - if you or anyone you know works in education/public services Orange often offer £20 off the handset cost, same if you have an NUS student card. Think you just need works ID.
I had looked at this phone and at the HTC Wildfire that is/was £129 in Phones 4U - both seem good basic smart phones but San Fran is cheaper.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Thanks for all your comments - I could stretch up to the Wildfire so will look at that as well. Comments on the San Francisco seem very positive so fa apart from the camera. How are these phones for sound? Can they be used like an MP3 player and if so are they easy to use for downloading music?
Thanks

Thank you for all advice - have ordered a San Francisco in White for £69 plus £10 top up from the Orange shop - I rang them and they offered the discount as an existing customer but I could not use the phone fund as well with that discount. Seemed a good deal so I went ahead!
