Personal opinion!
For me, open-plan kitchen/living room = YAY! :j
Being a sociable being who loves cooking for friends, I really hate houses/flats where the kitchen is separate, as I feel so isolated whilst everyone else is in the other room. Open plan is far more suitable for entertaining!0 -
Sometimes nice to have the separate kitchen/living rooms though if you *are* letting out a bedroom, as it can get away from that feeling of being in one another's space constantly. There's nothing quite like sitting on the sofa in a fog of your sharer's burning fish stew etc ..as you say, people will have differing opinions

Luckily, I would probably be renting to a friend so this shouldn't be an issue. We're considering renting but if I can scrape the cash together I'd rather buy and pay £400 toward my own mortgage rather than toward some nobby landlords.0 -
