    Hi All

Firstly can I say a big thank you to all the posters who share all the competitions on here. I have not one a thing yet but I might do, I might not, who knows!!
If I win tonight's euro millions I will probably give up comping, but I will buy you all a drink!!
My question relates to some sites I used to use prior to discovering MSE competition pages.
They are sites such as 'My Offers' which have competitions which require you to request information from a whole host of companies to enter each comp.
Are these sites legit? I feel that the competitions attached to well know businesses feel far more genuine.
It is highly likely this question is covered in another thread but I cant find it, so apologies in advance if this is covered elsewhere!!
    Best of Luck to all,
    Steve

sorry, i missed your post before among all the merged posts so have just seen it...dont think anyone else has answered you either :)

my offers and such like are listed in velvet gloves comping guide as sites that generate a lot of spam. there were a few comments in here the other day about the same winner having won two cars and a large lump sum in a couple of days :rotfl:

personally, like you i found them first and spent a while trying them out and getting more and more spam. now i treat them like fakes and no matter how much they try to tempt me i ignore them. ive also has a couple arguments with them re my personal data in the last couple of years, they are not supposed to be passing it on, but some companies by data lists that are years old i

I'm sorry if the following two points have been discussed before....

    1) Do you REALLY believe that you have an equal chance of winning comps if you say NO to receiving newsletters etc. I sometimes feel cheeky entering a comp and refusing anything from the site or company providing the prize. Is it worth just saying yes, then unsubscribing once they start emailing you?

    welcome to mse :)

if a comp requires you to be registered on their site, or on their newsletter email list for entry i sign up for the newsletter. if that is not a condition of entry i tick no or send no info/stop on postcards/texts. it didnt stop me winning :) i also have a filter in my email called newsletters and anything with that word in title goes there, and doesnt get read :rotfl: if its a newsletter i actually want i add a different email for it :)

    [STRIKE]
I picked up a comp mag at the airport today and don't think it's posted? Can someone that can search better than me (or who just knows these things) tell me if anyone posts Readers Digest Puzzles n Prizes. Thanks. xx
    [/STRIKE]

I searched and searched....url, comp threads, postal thread and could see no mention so have posted.

It's a new mag. Sorry if I've trodden on any toes posting it. If so I'll delete my posts but thought as I had searched hard and it wasn't listesd I may aswell post

Like I've said on thread, I won't be buying it regularly if someone wants to take over from the next issue

Dont know if this is the right thread to post. Sheerluxe seem to have a lot of expensive prize competitions running. they are quite easy to enter. However, when i did a search on I WON, there does not seem to be many winners. Do you think this is because more enter who are not from the main competition listings we know? or do you think the prizes are never ever given out??? just wondering!
    Just about to give up!

Sheerluxe competitions are very easy to enter, requiring just a name and email address - this is advantageous as it means it takes less time to enter, but it also means they are left wide open to serious abuse.

There are companies out there that operate automated entry services (i.e. you pay them ££ each month and they enter a load of competitions for you). These companies can easily target the likes of Sheerluxe and bombard them with tens of thousands of entries in one go. Sheerluxe may or may not disqualify these entries but they may not notice or even know that this kind of thing goes on. Therefore the chances of winning a Sheerluxe competition are probably going to be drastically reduced.

Really they should be asking for postal address to verify entrants and have a captcha code to ensure entries are submitted by a human rather than a computer entering multiple times.

I also imagine that these competitions are generally quite popular, as like you say, the prizes are usually very good.

    Sheerluxe winners list is HERE.

For various reasons not all MSE winners post on IWIWIW. Some winners have sent me a PM to thank me for posting instead.

As twotimes says: good prize + easy entry = less chance of winning.
