The old thread was getting very long and very messy so a nice new shiny thread for you lot to mess up!!!!

I have signed upp to twitter to enter the comps but I have no idea what i'm doing lol :rotfl:can anyone help, how do I tweet what do I tweet?

Hi, Im not going to be much help, but would just like to say Im exactly the same, I always click on "follow" but dont know if this is always needed. Sometimes you need to "retweet" theres a button for this, but Ive no idea why we need to do it but the tweeting bit is the bit that confuses me, have no idea why we need to do this or what has to go in the tweet box. Obviously I need help too, as I have never won a Twitter yet. Thanks

Thanks I'm just looking at it now still a bit mind boggled sure i'll get in the swing soon i kinda get how to tweet but still not sure what i'm meant to be tweeting haha feelin really thick at the mo lol

My approach - Tweet EXACTLY what they ask you to tweet, and if in doubt search for the name and see what everyone else is tweeting. Always cut and paste, do not use the Retweet option. Finally, cross your fingers

I've not won a twitter comp yet, but I live (and tweet) in hope.

Hi, i follow,then copy and paste what ever the competition details are, but don't copy the persons name that's at the begining of the tweet,then paste the details into your what's happening box at the top of your page then press the tweet.Still do not know if this is the right way of doing it.

Twitter isn't rocket science, but it looks like it lol

Here's what you do as a noobie.

1) FOLLOW people, go to their twitter page and there is a button up top to click...that means you see what they tweet. If you follow no-one you'll not get the tweets with comps in them. I started a list on here but it got lost in the thread .. it's here:-

I think a better way to do that has just come to me, so follow me on twitter and I'll tweet it when it's up and running

2) You sometimes find comps on sites with a tweet button like this one : http://campl.us/ they are easy. Just click.
Most comps will come frm other peeps tweets that you follow, the best thing to do is click the @whatever in them and go to the oriiginal comp site and tweet or retweet from there, if you hover the mouse ver their tweet the option will appear and just click. Beware of retweeting other folks tweets or retweeting too often for the comp rules. Copy paste is often best.

3) Direct messages are where you are usually informed of wins, and where you tel them where you live etc. They are pretty much self explanatory, but if you include @theperson you want to see the tweet they will see it, #theperson or #thesubject makes it searchable by them too...so if M&S had a 1st comp today, #M&S1stcomp could be how they find entries.

The bad news is that twitter is changing to a newer version, which means you'll have to learn that a little too...personally I use tweetdeck which makes it easy because it automatically resfreshes for new tweets and can be customised quite a lot.

More people you follow the better, but start out making lists if you can, simplifies things like bookmarks do later.
