A fancy dress outfit would have been nice :rotfl:. It hasn't turned up so spent most of yesterday making one. Turned down the offer of a Carmen Miranda outfit from one of the guys . So outfit (aka massive plant pot stuffed with flowers) made. Em. Yes. Classy it ain't :rotfl:. We're supposed to do the Macarena as we go but I don't think I'll be able to move that much . Still, it's forecast to be 19 and sunny and when I phoned my friend who's supplying a 'get ready' house for some of us to offer some cava she said 'that'll be great once we're ready, I've got brandy for earlier' so it could get messy .

So, the carnival is over :( but what a great day we had :j (that's me doing the Macarena :rotfl:). Really good fun, over 20 in our group and very colourful we were too :D. Roll on next year :T.

Except, this being Spain, it's not really over. It's Carnaval week (Spanish spelling) so there are events going on - our new town had their Carnaval in the pueblo last night and on the playa today - we saw a little bit of folks getting ready for today as we were walking to the footie and they were a bit more professionally dressed than us :rotfl:. We may have to go up to the pueblo on Wednesday night for:
20.00 h BURIAL of The SARDINE
    Acompanied by the Municipal Band
Departing from the Centro de Usos M!ltiples and proceeding to the Plaza Nueva.
Finally, the sardine will be burnt
and churros with chocolate will be offered.
    No, I haven't the foggiest either :D.

Em, in financial news . Estufa de pellets ordered and the good news is it came in a lot cheaper than expected. The bad news is that's because we can't vent into other rooms due to layout of house, but we'll switch over the existing wall heaters to the bedrooms so all will be well. Dark red with a black pipe and plinth :)

Back to non-financial news. Mr GG needs some plus fours for a golf tournament :rotfl:. At this rate rather than a dressing up box we're going to need a whole wardrobe . As they're around £55 to order  I'll be looking for suitable trews in a charity shop and adapting :D.

Churros and chocolate are lovely too! Did your town used to be a fishing village?

  • Gally, it all sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing the stories with us. We squirrels are really looking forward to our freedom too, our plans are slightly different but they involve very similar types of fun.
I always think of your signature when tempted to spend on unnecessary stuff, the advice to save first and spend what is left has stood me in very good stead on our mf journey and is continuing to keep us on track.

I hope you enjoy the burial of the sardine, even if it is dull the chocolate will be worth it. And how long can it take to bury a sardine?
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
