Oooh, exciting about Richard III! We went to a talk by the archaeologist in charge of finding him - we are so rock and roll!

It was really interesting and very funny, especially the photos of him eating his hat...or a cake in the shape of his hat anyway :)

Oh, that would have been great. Can you imagine wanting to be an archaeologist and becoming one - then finding Richard III!!!!!! He might as well retire now :rotfl:.

So, that went well :rotfl:. As expected, failed, will be around £350 including advisories and two new tyres so not too bad - I knew the steering arms needed work already. Then it can be sold with 12m MOT and no advisories :T.

Anyone want a nice car like this, 12m MOT and 2 new tyres :D

What's the car? This is likely a long shot but I'd be happy to buy if it's a Land Rover (Series, Defender, Disco), Triumph (not Dolomite / Acclaim), MG (pre 1981), Jaguar (classic or XJ), BMW.

Click the 'this' Alex - not quite what you had in mind :rotfl:. Anyway I'm not encouraging you to buy any more cars :D.

I hope you are able to go to the Richard III thing - you can tell us all about it.

We'll be on our cruise when it happens, so I'll miss a lot of the TV coverage. I'm relying on you!

Oooh, just the man to ask - we're off to look at a J-reg Defender 90 on Sunday, anything in particular we should be looking for? I know they can have rust issues and we're hoping to take Mr Minx's boss, who's a Land Rover enthusiast, but just in case he can't make it...

Nice car GG, but not too practical in a 2 dog household with hopefully a baby in the not to distant future!

Well done on the decluttering :T

Defenders can indeed have rust issues. Take a very good look at the chassis, rear crossmember and bulkhead. Make sure you get on your hands and knees and take a light. The bulkhead needs close inspection and take a magnet along. The body panels are aluminium.

It should be running a 200TDI engine, these are practically bombproof. Go for a test drive and do usual checks concerning brakes, steering, suspension as well as engaging low range/ diff lock.
