... need to decide if long term benefits of tax free money outweigh short term deficit.
This is just the sort of thing I'm thinking through ATM, complicated by the issue of the builder. He did some work for me last summer, and is coming back this spring to do a bit more - nothing major, just sorting out some niggles with the house as and when he has the time and I have the money. But I need to think about how much I'm going to need to pay him before I stick it all in the ISA only to have to get some of it back out and lose the tax wrapper anyway. He's coming round soon to discuss things, so I'll try to get an estimate of price out of him.
When I feel cross about how pathetic ISA rates are, I just have to keep reminding myself that low interest rates are a bigger positive influence on my mortgage than negative influence on my ISA/EF.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Morning all. Serious stuff this morning so no exciting smileys .
Work have an offers scheme and I can get 3% off Asda, Sainsbugs and others. Hadn't bothered up till now as you had to pay for delivery of cards which really negated the benefit. However, can now order zero loaded, reloadable cards free of charge. Have got some so will be seeing how easy they are to use. Don't really use Sainsbugs but do go to Asda a bit so will load up say £30 as a start. So....... obviously the 3% is a saving which needs to be spreadsheeted and OP'd....... do I do when I load or when I spend? Hhhhhmmmmmmm. This money saving lark is full of decisions.
Mr el gets this as well GG he gets 5% though ... It is a very handy thing I load mine with £150 a month it costs me £142.5 so I transfer the other £7.50 over straight away ... He also get it for Thomas cook and we have booked our holiday through there ... We will save a good bit of money , does your have b&q or Argos ? As well ?
They can be very handy things to have0 -
Don't really use Sainsbugs
Sainsbury's are a really good supermarket imho. That said, they definitely appear to be the dearest of the 'normal' supermarkets (I'm not rich enough to shop in Waitrose)0 -

There is up to 8% with some other stores but you need to preload initially and then there is a £4.95 delivery charge so not so good. Because I don't spend much anymore I've not pursued it, but if I do plan anything I will get organised.edinburgher wrote: »Sainsbury's are a really good supermarket imho. I do like Sainsbugs but the only ones near me are quite small. I only buy their special offers normally, and the diet ginger beer.

The ones mr el has you pre load then go to the shop and basically use the card instead of cash for us it works out not too bad but at the same time we are still very aware that its only a bargain if we can use it to it's full advantage
we dont have a delivery charge, is that to get the card out ?0 -

Yes, if it is preloaded. They are all reloadable on line though.
Had ordered walking stuff Thursday. Boots have arrived - currently breaking them in (sitting down so not quite sure how effective this will be) but skort out of stock
:T:rotfl:. Picked up some shorts on a mystery shop yesterday which will do.
