    Forgot to declare on here I bought 5kg of onions yesterday which was a tad silly as I'm on my own most of the time and going on hols in 3 weeks. So, to keep me on track:

    Day 1
    Onions in - 5kg
    Onions out - 0.

    Day 2
    Onions out - 4 (1 in roast chicken, 1 in stock, 2 in soup)

    not sure if you remember Thriftylady, but she has a fab blog called the quince tree. she pre- chops things like onions that form the base of many recipes and freezes to save time. see HERE
