Countered with for my generation retirement age will be later and my guess is pensions will be means tested. We don't count on receiving a state pension.

It's not only your generation that may find their retirement age later than they think - I have known for years that I will get state pension at 65 not 60 - now it has moved out to 66 for both of us - I don't expect it stay at 66 - we will be 66 in 2021 - so plenty of time for the gov't to move the goal posts again.

Like you I expect state pension to means tested and we don't expect to receive any state pension - so although we have taken early retirement - the state pension wasn't in the equation.
