Does anyone know if there is an ISA which tracks the FTSE 100 or 250 ?
Thankyou.
Thankyou.

There are many. One example that springs to mind would be a Hargreaves Lansdown Vantage ISA holding an HSBC index tracker (no initial charge, 0.25% annual charge).
Are you only going to be holding trackers? If so, going direct to some providers might be cheaper, but if you want to hold a variety, then access to a fund supermarket is likely to be very useful.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

No, there is no ISA that tracks an index. An ISA is just a container for investments. An ISA doesnt track anything or perform in anyway. Its the investments you put inside the ISA that matter.
There are many different index tracker funds available in both unit trust/OEIC form or ETF form. There are also structured products that can be linked to the FTSE100. A lot of the time they are not great but occasionally you get terms that that can be better than a tracker.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have the HSBC FTSE All-Share tracker, seems to be quite widely reccomended for its simplicity and low costs.
All-Share will get a better spread of companies as the FTSE100 is very concentrated on the financial sector.
Personally, I think a "boring" tracker with a regular monthly contribution ("pound cost averaging") is a worthy component of anyones portfolio.
It won't light any fires mind, but will usually outperform a cash account if you keep it going.0 -
I'd agree with the HL ISA holding the HSBC FTSE250 fund in it. I've got that as well as the FTSE All Share tracker and I think they give good balance across the UK market. I think they complement each other well as the two sizes of company can perform well at different times. Over the last 12 months the FTSE250 medium/smaller companies have done better than the FTSE100 but other times the 100 has done better.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
