Great news on the laptop. I downsized into Mr Cs property from a 1930s 3 bed semi with 3 reception rooms. I loved that house but I have to admit that since moving in here (apart from the room of doom cluttered to the ceiling) I have realised how nice it is to use all of the house instead of one small part of it. The census people are a bit slow, but then thats public service recruitment for you. Mr C applied for an NHS job 12 months ago this week and never heard. His application is still live on the website so he thought it would be fun to ring them yesterday and find out what is going on. They said................ "we havent had time to look at the applications yet":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just wait to see what happens and what hours they offer you KC before making a decision. It might be that you can just do a few hours that will give you that bit of social life (whilst earning) that you have been looking for.

Absolutely right cheri - I won't stop any application going through until I know what the offer is.

Isn't it amazing about being able to use the whole house? Admittedly, part of it for me is that I've been trapped in little corners of the house for ages - but I think the main principle still stands.

I've done 2.5 hours paid work today - I'm **amazed** that I'm not flat on my back feeling suicidal, but I'm not - tho I do foresee an early night, of course. Asda have been, I have lots of jars of my cheapo-acceptable pasta, lots of bags of gluten free pasta, and enough feta, plus lots of frozen veg, and trusty dishywishy is supporting me as ever. All is well with my world (and because I've moved to the back of the house, I can see more cats :) )

Positive thinking on the cold KC - it IS just a cold, and it's NOT going to knock you for six again. My opening gambit when cold and flu like signs start approaching me is to tell them they are being ridiculous, that I simply haven't got time to be bothered by a silly cold, and that they should go away and bother someone who will be impressed by their posturing. I then hit them with a mega dose of high strength vitamin C tablets (the chewable ones as I always feel that they *ought* to do some good going past the dodgy throaty bit!) and, surprisingly, quite often they DO go away. One of those utterly ridiculous things that actually seems to work! Good luck!

Woop Woop to the laptop finally being up and running too - I hope we're eventually going to get to see a pic of the office with lappy proudly in situ?!

    What?

I just that I can't tolerate people talking shiite, as I've probably shown people in the past.

Especially when it's along the lines of "some random stranger told me this at one time and I fell for it" stuff without doing any sort of critical thinking or their own research.

    Well said Z.

Hi KC! Good news about the laptop and the *gorgeous* dress - you will look suitably posh at the wedding (money can't buy style you know ;))

I like EH's attitude to the cold too - my Mum is like that, she says she just thinks "I don't have time to be ill" and bats it away! It doesn't always work, but positive thinking is free!
Hope you're ok and not affected by the howling winds we've got here :(

    Have a good day :)
