catching up. I always seem to be behind at the moment!. The trip sounds really good and fantastic savings. Living where I do is a nightmare for train journeys. When I lived just outside Liverpool I often got journeys at £11 to London. Now I cant even get to Birmingham for less than £26. There is no such thing as cheap tickets from here. Another added cost to living rurally I guess.

Its a pain, isn't it - you can see from my journey outline - the trips at the end, the short ones, they're the ones that cost a *lot* of money for the mileage ... but at least I have a big chunk of really cheap stuff. And its so much quicker nowadays (2 h. 8 min) than it was when I was a student (3 h. 40).

Ages since I posted - I got my lovely new mattress a couple of days ago, which has been lovely :j:j:j

I'm starting to cost whether it would benefit me to buy a railcard - it depends on the conditions currently, it always made sense when I worked in London, but not for a while. Not today tho!

I was off out yesterday, and made a little dfw purchase - supermarket basil for 70p - it was last year's, I think, only two stalks on it, but very strong, they look like mature plants, actually, so I'll both re-pot them and take cuttings :j

Plus I had some time to waste while I was changing trains, at an old fashioned station with no barriers, so I hopped out to the local shops - found a little garden centre that was like an old-fashioned chandler's shop, with a 3 litre pot, with rhubarb roots in it, the leaves just starting to peep out of the soil, and it was only £4.99, for a big plant like that :j

Today, when it warms up, a bit of getting set in the garden, and repotting the basil :)

    Hello KC,

glad to hear that you're enjoying the mattress, I bet you're not wanting to get up in the mornings :D

Ooooh rhubarb, I used to have some in my garden, but I've not seen it for years ... must go hunting later.

    Have a lovely day

Excellent stuff KC! :T :T My rescued supermarket basil from november (I think) is still going strong - I'm impressed actually :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds like a nicely pottering day (although if your garden looks anything like mine this morning you'll need your thermals on, and some kind of power drill to get through the frozen soil! :rotfl: )

for your journeys when you are on Merseyside, it may be easier to get a 'saveaway' ticket, so you pay one cost for the whole day so long as the travel is off peak.

:o:o:o I carried it in a bag ... you sussed the bad bit, my fingers were really bad when I got back home, but really, such a healthy looking plant in such a big pot, I couldn't *not* buy it. I promise I won't do it again :o

Excellent! I've just done piccies for the blog, which I'll post up later today - I'm faking that I potted it up anew last night, when really, I've only just done it :rotfl:

The frost here yesterday was dreadful, really bad - today, there's hardly any, tho I've just been outside to get some stuff and its *jolly* chilly out there.

Ooh, close! I need two zones, so it would be the main fare of £4.70 - the single fare I need is £4.30, so its still "cheaper", just. Thank you for checking that for me! If my mum *is* in France during the dates I'm up, I'll be using some of those :)
