Yike, plans! Proper plans! Good luck - I'd love to hear about them, squiggle them onto here when you're ready.
Well the weekly plans are not quite in the diary yet...
...but my year at a glance has been filled in with all kinds of goodies!
Started with 'stat' holidays & bank holidays - I get a few of each now for a total of 12 - then filled in my holiday days around these to make the most of my meagre allowance! Blocked off the weekends on either end to get some nice chunks of down time! Also filled in things we tend to celebrate each year like various cultural new year's, solsctices & birthday's - basically any excuse to celebrate!
The next bit is the part that makes the desired fun happen - paydays & budgeting days - 2 of the first and 3 of the second per month - found that a seperate budget day was needed for the overseas challenges!
Then a bunch of routine things like hair cut & colour, new eye make-up reminders and routine things that have their own cyclic schedule!
The next will be to move on to lunar cycles and the weekly items - groceries, laundry, library trips, petrol fills, bread & yogurt maker sessions!
I find that writing the routine things down ends up in a better use of time for both OH & myself and frees up day to day worry!
Also keeping an old fashioned paper diary works out really well - using a pencil rather than a pen to allow for flexibility and change as nothing is ever static or set in stone!!! (...and I always wonder what would happen if the power went out for days on end !)
Wow - that turned out rather longer than expected! - so will sign off for now!

RT4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 10 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 15 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Thanks RT! Thats really interesting, diarising the routine things so firmly ... it sounds like a really good idea. One rule I had to make myself years ago, to save my sanity (what sanity, I hear you say
) is not to do any housework on the weekend - sometimes I have to for emergencies, but not usually.
I do the holiday and celebrations thing - excellent! - but not the budget thing - interesting that you do a holiday one separately - I do the planning of whatever holiday, but thats all.
The routine self care/pampering is fascinating! I'm very bad at doing that, oops, as well as the breadmaker etc - I'd love to be able to do that! I think, the more settled I get, the more I'd be able to fiddle about in the evening - for now, its very much about carrying on with the garden, and focussing on what I want from the builder - phoned him today to arrange another assessment.
Gives me another idea of what else to put in the diary - my diary is why my sig has the bit in red in it, after allThanks RT!

Just thought, the other thing for me is that I'm self employed, and not everyone I work with makes regular appointments at regular times - some people book weeks ahead, others the next week, an emergency might phone for later in that day, and people can need to cancel or change appointments to a different date, all sorts of things. It makes it hard to be that detailed in planning - but I could adapt it and say, this week I'll fit in some batch cooking, something like that.
The accounts come first _pale_ after today until they're done. Today is finishing off other paperwork, couple of meetings - one with my business partner, one with a friend :j and a quick trip to Sainsbo - they have an offer on microwaveable rice pockets, and I'm going to stock up for after my op.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Blimey kc, are those pesky accounts still hanging round?? Pah!
Glad you've got a trip to a friend in today :T And good thinking stocking up on easy food for after the op. Glad you've got a date - hope you don't go too bonkers waiting for it to come round... xx0 -
I've done 99% of the work on them, its just a few crossed 't's and submitting, honest guv!
My sister will stay with me as much as I need her, but its her half term, and anyway, I'm a quiet kind of person at home, so I need lots of healthy convenience foods - can't buy the treats beforehand, I eat them
You're doing so well with your recovery! And you had to overnight too, which I don't have to - you're an example to us all, Cheery xxx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks
But actually I'm being pretty naughty and probably not resting as much as I could
Be prepared for being quite confused after the anaesthetic - I was and could barely choose what to wear in the morning - think I wore the same thing for about 5 days in a row

I thought that would happen ... nobody's said anything about it, tho, I wish they'd be more honest. Discourages me from asking questions, really, they either get offended or start to patronise me.
I'm taking the whole week off, after the op is on the Tuesday - and I can take the next Monday off too, maybe even the next Tuesday. I really can't do more than that - otoh, I'm "under" for a lot less than you. Hopefully, it'll be okay.
You've sounded quite sore yesterday, thats true - hope Mr Cheery has organised you into a nap now
You know what, rather than just stockpiling stuff, I think I'm going to do an actual mealplan for those first five days .... that'll stop me having to, you know, *think*2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
great news on the mattress and all the things you've got done.
RT loving the diary thing ...I have to use one for appointments or else I get very cofused as to where I'm meant to be but could make good use of it for planning other stuff0 -
Good plan KC! I'd also have some stuff you don't actually have to cook - even just cereal or whatever - not sure I would have eaten very much the first day or two if it hadn't have been put under my nose
Nobody told me about the confusion thing either - other than not to drive for the first 24 hours, but with me it was more like 4-5 days (and I still haven't driven, although that's more about the neck now, but for the first week I wouldn't have even considered driving!)0
