Exactly what the heck are you doing posting at such an ungodly hour when you should be tucked up snug in bed :naughty:

Posting at 7 in the morning?????

KC, surely you hadn't even had a cuppa yet?

    :o:o:o Yep, I had!
    Another 'home' day today...
Load of laundry in, kitchen tidied, OH sent on his merry way:D (but only after he'd been grumbled at), 1st attempt at sorting wardrobe dealt with - and most importantly - two cups of coffee downed!

Must find that dratted Oyster card today, it's in a box somewhere - Have found out that keeping the bus journey seperate from the FGW train journey is £2 cheaper a day! £10 a week! £520 a year!

KC - you asked about contract work... simple answer is networking, as 'they' call it, chatting with everyone in sight is what I call it.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:My 10 minute walk to the train station always took 20 minutes, as I'd find at least one person to have a good natter with on the way.

Two days after resigning, the local pub landlord said I could work behind his bar anytime - had not yet told him I was looking for work. OH 'forbade' me from working behind the bar:D, but office work is more my thing anyway, not too heartbreaking there. Did suggest a couple of friends' offspring who might be well suited to the work.

So the bit of contract work I ended up accepting, was not the most marvelous pay, but it was 5 full days over a two week period, as a freelance project manager. Went in, oversaw the project, cleaned up loose ends, and then left the staff to it! Plenty of time left in the week to 'get my own house in order', well in theory anyway.

Taking a good look at networking, I suppose it's identifying strengths and flogging them (in a nice way) to anyone who will listen. Mind you it's also about listening to everyone else's stories as well & looking out for opportunities to pass on to them.

OK - enough waffling - there are some apples to use up and the slow cooker wants to know what dinner challenge is going to be set for it today!:rotfl:

    RT

This is interesting, thank you! Oh my, if I thought jobs were out there that I could do, on that basis, then for sure I'd be looking everywhere.

I am *so* rubbish at networking in person tho .... my heart sinks when I look at the layout of a seminar, for instance, and see "Networking opportunities" - I'm likely to leave the premises altogether and go for a walk :( But it sounds so fantastic for you!

Hope you found the Oyster card, they really make a big difference. And the rest of it too .... apples, slow cooker, lovely stuff!

Finally got news on my shoulder pain .... going to have an op, a keyhole one, I'm going to campaign for a local anaesthetic, but they're mumbling about general. Not till after Christmas, and 4 - 5 weeks of discomfort, so I'm going to make lots of my own ready made meals... watch this space!

Ouch! Not fun. But hopefully will fix the pain - after you get over the pain - if you see what I mean!

Awwww.... thank you both! Thats very sweet :) RT, I may take you up on something, but I've no idea what it really entails - and after all, I have a dishwasher, a freezer, a microwave, and a laptop to summon supermarket deliveries :) I'm sure I'll get through. Cheery, I'm aware you've got an op actually *scheduled* right now - you can keep me up to date with your recovery!

I'm kind of shocked at the need, tbh - nobody in the family has had an op for this stuff, and they've all got arthritis - its the way its mucking about with a tendon thats the problem.... still, medical stuff doesn't make me go green - I'm the sort of nutter that *watches* injections :)

ETA - miz, I do see what you mean :) and yep, thats the plan!

Me too. Hate conferences and stuff where they have time for networking - I'll be the other one going for a walk! :o If I can't get out of it I make a beeline for someone who looks even more awkward/lost/uncomfortable than I feel and try to talk to them. Strategy works quite well and have had some nice chats - but doesn't tend to make contacts with the movers and shakers!

But thats a really good idea so as to avoid pulling your hair out - if there's a rainstorm on, for instance! Thanks for that :kisses3:

*Must* do some work. But I need something else to eat first :rotfl:
