Hiya! Thats right, I just have the kindle app - I read loads of fanfic on the laptop sometimes, I don't find the amount of reading I do a strain ... I remember you saying about run the updates at a time to suit yourself - erm, I remembered your info too late! Shan't make that mistake again.

The child migrant stuff would be very welcome! I have the personal tales - my nan devastated because her little boy left his gloves behind, and before that the interview as to why a child with two parents had applied to join the scheme .... but some of the papers your mum gathered would be very welcome, truly.

Shutting down now - I'm going to *try* to do some stuff in the garden - I've left it late so its not too long till it gets dark :D

Posting at 7 in the morning?????

KC, surely you hadn't even had a cuppa yet?

    Another 'home' day today...
Load of laundry in, kitchen tidied, OH sent on his merry way:D (but only after he'd been grumbled at), 1st attempt at sorting wardrobe dealt with - and most importantly - two cups of coffee downed!

Must find that dratted Oyster card today, it's in a box somewhere - Have found out that keeping the bus journey seperate from the FGW train journey is £2 cheaper a day! £10 a week! £520 a year!

KC - you asked about contract work... simple answer is networking, as 'they' call it, chatting with everyone in sight is what I call it.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:My 10 minute walk to the train station always took 20 minutes, as I'd find at least one person to have a good natter with on the way.

Two days after resigning, the local pub landlord said I could work behind his bar anytime - had not yet told him I was looking for work. OH 'forbade' me from working behind the bar:D, but office work is more my thing anyway, not too heartbreaking there. Did suggest a couple of friends' offspring who might be well suited to the work.

So the bit of contract work I ended up accepting, was not the most marvelous pay, but it was 5 full days over a two week period, as a freelance project manager. Went in, oversaw the project, cleaned up loose ends, and then left the staff to it! Plenty of time left in the week to 'get my own house in order', well in theory anyway.

Taking a good look at networking, I suppose it's identifying strengths and flogging them (in a nice way) to anyone who will listen. Mind you it's also about listening to everyone else's stories as well & looking out for opportunities to pass on to them.

OK - enough waffling - there are some apples to use up and the slow cooker wants to know what dinner challenge is going to be set for it today!:rotfl:
